I am Chris Wang, or mastersuperfan, and this is my first FAQ! New Super Luigi U is an expansion pack for the game New Super Mario Bros. U for the Wii U, celebrating the Year of Luigi, the 30th anniversary of Luigi's debut in the arcade game Mario Bros. since 1983. I actually prefer this game over New Super Mario Bros. U, as the game is more difficult and more action packed. While many things are the same, such as the power-ups and the worlds, there are many things that are different as well. To start, the levels are shorter and you only have 100 seconds to finish each one, instead of the longer drawn-out levels from New Super Mario Bros. U. Not only that, but you may have noticed the absence of the word "Bros." from the title or the absence of Mario on the cover of the game. Well, this is because Mario isn't even in this game. Yep, the first Mario platformer without Mario! Replaced by the sneaky Nabbit, Mario is barely even referenced in this game. Also, in every level, there is a Hidden Luigi you can find. They are just Easter eggs and finding them has no real impact on the gameplay, but it is rather fun to discover them. This walkthrough will help you beat all the levels and find all the Star Coins, Secret Exits, and Hidden Luigis in the game. ---------- Contact Me ---------- If you need to contact me about this FAQ, email me at: [email protected] If you are contacting me about this guide, make sure to include something along the lines of "New Super Luigi U Guide Feedback" or something, depending on what you are contacting me for. U, the game starts with Luigi, Yellow Toad, and Blue Toad having tea with Peach. However, instead of Mario being there, his chair is empty, and his cap is on the table. Suddenly, Bowser's airship and all the airships of his Koopalings come flying towards the castle and stop. A giant claw then emerges from Bowser's airship and dives into the castle, right into the room the group is enjoying their tea. This time, instead of snagging Princess Peach, the claw pulls her to the side and punches Luigi and the Toads, rendering them helpless. The claw now grabs the trio and winds up to throw them far, far away into Acorn Plains to let Bowser take Peach as a hostage in her own castle. What will our heroes do now, especially since Mario's not here?! Characters: -Mario: Who are you talking about? There is no Mario. This is New Super Luigi U. -Luigi: The brother of the famous red plumber, he has to take action when Mario's gone missing! His jumps are floaty and he slides when stopping, which defines Luigi in terms of controlling him. -Yellow and Blue Toad: They were in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros U, and now they are back to help rescue the princess once again! They are just as capable as Luigi in completing this quest, although they can only be played in multiplayer mode. -Nabbit: The sneaky rabbit who stole the goods from Toad Houses in New Super Mario Bros U, he has returned! While he still steals things from Toad Houses, being the thief he is, he can now be used as a playable character! He is invincible, but cannot use power-ups. Any power-ups he collects will become 1- Ups when he finishes the level. He can only be played in multiplayer, unless you use a little cheat code. (See Tips, Tricks, and Secrets) If Nabbit is not being played, however, he will steal items from Toad Houses and run into a level. Catching him in the first seven worlds (he will not appear in the last two) is part of the requirement to get the fifth star on your profile. -Princess Peach: The famous damsel in distress, Peach is kidnapped by Bowser once again and has to be saved! Luigi and his friends have to take over and rescue her while Mario's away. -Bowser: The humongous spiked Koopa who always comes up with an uncreative scheme to kidnap Princess Peach, he's back with another plot! This time, he decides to send the crew flying away and take over the castle for himself, with Princess Peach inside it. Can Luigi and his friends defeat him this time? -The Koopalings: Just like in previous games, the Koopalings are back to hold us off in their airships. Fortunately, they're no match for us, are they? Controls: -Control Stick/Control Pad: Move -Down: Crouch -Hold Y/1 while moving: Dash -B/2: Jump -ZR or R/shake Wii Remote:Spin jump -Down in midair: Ground-pound -B/2 while dashing and landing from jump: Double and triple jumps -Hold Y/1 and touch an item: Hold item -Release Y/1 when holding item: Throw item -Move in direction of pipe entrance: Enter pipe -Up in front of a door: Enter door -Down on a slope: Slide -B/2 in water: Swim -Jump against a wall and press B/2: Wall jump -Jump and touch a hanging chain: Grab hanging chain -Up in front of a pole: Grab pole Multiplayer Only: -A/-: Enter bubble -Hold Y/1 and press R/shake Wii Remote: Pick up friend -Release Y/1 when picking up friend: Throw friend -Two players press Down in midair at the same time: Synchro ground-pound Power-Ups: -Super Mushroom: Makes you the Super version of your character. Allows you to break brick blocks and take a hit without dying. -Mini Mushroom: Makes you the Mini version of your character. You can jump much higher and run on water and walls, but one hit kills you. -Super Acorn: Gives you the Squirrel Suit. Hold A/2 to glide, touch a wall in midair to cling, and press ZL or ZR/shake the Wii Remote to boost through the air. -P-Acorn: Gives you the Power Squirrel Suit. Same as Squirrel Suit, except you can glide and boost infinitely without landing. -Fire Flower: Gives you the Fire Suit. Press Y/1 to throw fireballs. -Ice Flower: Gives you the Ice Suit. Press Y/1 to throw ice balls that can freeze enemies. You can then stand on the frozen enemies or throw them. -Propeller Mushroom: Gives you the Propeller Suit. Press ZL or ZR/shake the Wii Remote to propel yourself into the air, and press Down in midair to drill downwards. -Penguin Suit: Gives you the Penguin Suit. Dash to slide, press Y/1 to shoot ice balls just like the Ice Suit, and gives you improved traction. -Starman: Makes you invincible. You can still die from pits, though... -Yoshi: The green dinosaur is back! Jump on him to use him once you find him. He can eat enemies and fruits, and he can also flutter jump by holding B/2 to give you a little boost. When he gets hit, he'll start running away from you in panic, though, so try to get him back before he runs into a pit. -Balloon Baby Yoshi: One of the three Baby Yoshis, the Balloon Baby Yoshi will let you soar in midair for a short time, using him as a Balloon. You have to hold him to use him, though, and just like Yoshi, he'll run away if you get hit. -Glowing Baby Yoshi: One of the three Baby Yoshis, the Glowing Baby Yoshi will let you light up the area around you and can stun certain nearby enemies for a short time. You have to pick him, and just like the other two, he'll run away when you're hit. -Bubble Baby Yoshi: One of the three Baby Yoshis, the Bubble Baby Yoshi will let you shoot bubbles that can turn enemies into coins and power-ups. You have to pick him up, and, once again, he'll run away if you get hit. ------------------------- 2) World 1 - Acorn Plains ------------------------- Bowser decides to send Lemmy and his airship over to Acorn Plains to keep you in check. Fortunately for us, he can't stop us, right? This is your standard first world, containing simple levels and a grassy background. Let's get started with the first level! Acorn Plains-1: Waddlewing Warning! Right as you start, look above your starting point to see a sign with the game's name and the level's [Hidden Luigi]. Yeah, not very hidden, I know, but just wait until the later levels. Remember that you only have 100 seconds, so move quickly. Jump onto the first moving platform and wait until it reaches the top of its pattern, then jump to hit a block containing a 1-Up. Avoid the Waddlewings and run to the right to see a ? Block. Hit to get a Mushroom, which will let you break the bricks that you are on and take a hit and not die. You will see a Waddlewing flying between here and the pipe on the right, so jump on it to get the Super Acorn it is holding. Use your gliding abilities and the midair boost the follow the path of coins to a platform which has the [1st Star Coin]. Glide down through the coins to land on a platform with a Coin Block if you want some more coins. If you lose your Squirrel Suit to an enemy, you can jump on another Waddlewing to get another Super Acorn. After crossing a few more moving platforms, you will see another Star Coin. Jump to the next platform and wait until the platform reaches its lowest point with the platform above the Star Coin teaching its highest point and run towards the Star Coin and use your boost to get the [2nd Star Coin], going through the platform to safety. Glide through the air through the coins and use your boost at the end, going through column of Waddlewings, to snag the [3rd Star Coin] and reach the top of the flagpole. Congratulations, you beat the first level! Acorn Plains-2: Crooked Cavern Ah, yes, the standard 1-2 level, which always has a cave in contrast to the first grassy level. Before going through the green Warp Pipe, run to the left of the pipe when the Piranha Plant retracts to find a hidden alcove with the [1st Star Coin]. Now go through the pipe. Hit the ? Block to get a Fire Flower, although I advise keeping the Squirrel Suit if you want to get everything in this level. If you still want it, it should help to take out the pesky Piranha Plants. Cross the shifting platforms, being careful not to get hit. You will see a Star Coin under some blocks next to a Koopa. Jump on it and throw its shell at the blocks, and the shell will get the [2nd Star Coin] for you. Alternatively, if you already killed the Koopa, you can ground-pound the blocks and cancel it in midair by pressing Up, then wall jumping back up. Time your jumps and cross the platforms with caution to avoid damage. On the platform with all the Koopas, you can throw the first one for a potential 1-Up. After jumping off of the big platform to the small platform below the exit pipe, don't exit yet. With the Squirrel Suit, glide to the right to find the [3rd Star Coin]. Now, you can go through the pipe for the normal exit, or you can ground-pound where the arrow sign is the discover a hidden passage. However, if you take the normal exit and ground-pound the blocks before the flagpole, you discover the [Hidden Luigi] for this level. The hidden passageway will take you to the [Secret Exit], which unlocks the secret level of World 1, Acorn Plains Cheep Cheep. After beating this level, you will see that Bowser has now taken over Peach's Castle as his own castle. You can enter the Toad House to play a fun minigame which can potentially earn you some items, some of which can be used on the World Map before starting a level. Toad Houses will disappear for most of the game after you use them, so use them wisely! Acorn Plains-Tower: Flame-Gear Tower This level has a lot of gears and Rocket Engines spouting fire, so watch out! Get on the first gear and go all the way to the right to find a Star Coin. Jump to it when the flames are down and wall jump back up, getting the [1st Star Coin]. Jump to the next few cogs above you and you will see another Star Coin on a platform with . Jump to it when the flames are down to get the [2nd Star Coin], just like the first one, and jump back out to avoid getting hit by the Rocket Engines. Hit the block for an Ice Flower, which is similar to a Fire Flower, but the ice balls freeze enemies instead of outright killing them. Jump up another level and make your way to the rightmost gear, which has a platform with a Dry Bones above it. Jump the reveal two hidden blocks. Jump on top of them and jump again to reveal another hidden block with an Ice Flower. Finally, jump on top of that hidden block and jump again to reach the [3rd Star Coin]. Go left and make your way to the final cog, but if you still have some time, don't jump to the top platform yet. Jump to the left of the highest cog and land on the slanted platform below and to the left of the cog, avoiding the fire from the Rocket Boosters. When the cog isn't covering it up, you can see the level's [Hidden Luigi] there. Get back to the top platform and freeze the leftmost Dry Bones. Pick it up and throw in into all the others ones for a free 1-Up. Then enter the boss door. Don't worry if you only have a few seconds left; you'll get an extra 100 seconds. To defeat Boom Boom, the boss, simply jump on him three times when he is charging towards you. He has no other attacks in this fight, so don't worry too much. After this level, the game will tell you about the Miiverse features. Beating the tower will also let you save, so if you get a Game Over, you can start back here instead of the start of the game. Beating the fortress at any time will let you save your game again, although you can Quick Save your game if you need to stop playing, which is a save, except if you get a Game Over, you will not start from your Quick Save, as it disappears after you load your file. Also, after beating this level, you may or may not see a Super Acorn at the intersection between the paths to the second level, the Toad House, and the tower. You can go pick it up, and it can be used before starting a level if you are small and need a power-up. Don't worry if it's not there; you may have to play a little more before you see it. Acorn Plains-3: Rolling Yoshi Hills As you start, run off the platform to the right, avoiding the Monty Mole that comes out from the wall. The ? Blocks only have coins, no power-ups. Jump on the Koopa and throw it to the right for the [1st Star Coin]. In the next pair of ? Blocks, however, the left one will contain Yoshi! You can eat fruits and enemies with everyone's favorite green dinosaur! Hold the Jump button to Flutter Jump and reach the coins above. At the top of the three platforms with the Monty Moles, flutter to the left wall to reach a hidden alcove with coins. There is another alcove with coins right after the pipe. Use Yoshi to bounce off of the Piranha Plants and get the [2nd Star Coin]. Alternatively, grab the Koopa on the right and throw it to grab it. If you flutter above the platform the Koopa is on, you can reach a 1-Up block for an extra life. Hit the POW Block to send coins raining down from the air onto the rolling hills. You will come across another POW Block and some more Monty Moles. Hit the POW Block to kill them all. Also, if you look to the left of where the POW Block was, you can see the level's [Hidden Luigi] above the hole where the third mole came from. Flutter off of the final rolling hill and follow the trail of coins to get the [3rd Star Coin] and the top of the flagpole. Acorn Plains-4: Piranha Heights Make sure to get the Balloon Baby Yoshi on the map before entering this level. Grab the Yoshi and time your jumps across the mushrooms, making sure not to fall off or get hit by any Piranha Plants. When you pass below an upside-down T with three Piranha Plants on the underside of it, use the baby Yoshi to fly onto the right side and use the Yoshi again to fly to the platform on the right with the [1st Star Coin]. You will find a platform with a ? Block, but keep in mind that the Piranha Plants can hit you if you are standing on the platform. Quickly nab the Ice Flower inside and fly onto the left side of the next T shaped pipe. Jump against the wall to discover a hidden block with a 1-Up. Either use the baby Yoshi to fly up to the Star Coin on the right side of the pipe or kill the Piranha Plants and jump up there. Either way, grab the [2nd Star Coin] and keep going. You will see a hole in the pipes above after crossing under the next three Piranha Plants. Jump up and wall jump to reach a pipe. Go inside to find the [3rd Star Coin] and the level's [Hidden Luigi]. Go in the pipe on the other side and cross the final platforms to reach the flagpole! The castle will now be unlocked. If you lost the Balloon Baby Yoshi and want another one, you will have to play some more, and it will eventually come back. Acorn Plains-5: Piranha Gardens Another Piranha Plant level! Watch out for the Hammer Bro at the start. Platforms will come in and out of the ground, so keep that in mind. You will see a Red Coin Ring with a platform rising and falling under it. Land on the low ledge to the left of the Red Coin Ring and run right into the wall to find a hidden alcove containing the [1st Star Coin]. If you somehow are Mini, you can go in the pipe for coins leading to a hidden 1-Up block. Hit the Red Coin Ring and jump to reach all eight Red Coins while the platforms are at their highest point to get a power-up. Make sure to avoid the Big Piranha Plants chomping hungrily. You will see two rows of blocks with a Hammer Bro on the top one. Kill it by hitting the block under it, then ride the platforms to reach the [2nd Star Coin]. Immediately on the right you should be able to see the [Hidden Luigi] carved out of a bush. The ? Block on the bottom row has another Fire Flower if you need one. Kill the next two Big Piranha Plants and jump under where the second one was to reveal two hidden blocks. Jump on the blocks and jump again to find a hidden area with two platforms and the [3rd Star Coin]. Alternatively, you can jump from the platform before to reach the alcove. Avoid the final Big Piranha Plant and run to the right to reach the end of the level. If Acorn Plains-4 has not been completed, the castle will be unlocked. You will also gain access to a Green Toad House. Grab all the coins and 1-Ups you can from the cannons, but try not to hit the Bowsers. Also, if you hit the Piranha Plant while traveling across the red pipe on the map, you will have to face off against three Piranha Plants. If you don't have a power up, don't worry; a Flying ? Block with a Starman will be there. Claim a power up from the chest after you've defeated all three. Acorn Plains-Castle: Lemmy's Lights-Out Castle The first castle level of the game! As you may notice, this level is pretty dark. The darkness shouldn't give you too much trouble, though. Run to the right and hit the left ? Block for a power-up. Jump on the swinging platform with the Dry Bones and time your jump to reach the upper swinging platform with the [1st Star Coin]. Jump to the right and keep going. Hit the Red Coin Ring and time your jumps on the swinging platforms to reach all of them and get a Super Acorn. After going right, you will find several swinging platforms with Dry Bones, one of which has a Star Coin under it. Use the Squirrel Suit to glide under and boost back up, nabbing the [2nd Star Coin]. Make your way to safe ground and hit the blocks after the Dry Bones to find a P Switch. Hit it to turn all the coins into blocks and make your way across, being careful not to fall into the Munchers. However, you will see platform below that has an empty space in between several Munchers. Ground-pound through the blocks or wait for the P Switch to end to reach the gap and find a hidden pipe. There is the [3rd Star Coin] on a swinging platform. Coming out of the pipe, run to the right to find the boss door. Don't go through it yet! Go next the wall and jump to find a hidden block with a power-up. Then jump on that block to find the [Hidden Luigi] in the wall. Now you can enter the boss door. Just like the tower, you will gain 100 extra seconds to defeat Lemmy. Climb up the stairs and go in the cannon. Avoid the bombs he throws and jump on him when he comes at you. Jump over him when he comes at in his shell. Three hits will do it for him. You have just cleared the first world! Now you can go to World 2, Layer Cake Desert. You can also save if you like. Acorn Plains-Cheep Cheep: Cheep Chomp Chase This level is unlocked by finding the secret exit in Acorn Plains-2. But of course. An underwater level. And as the title may tell you, you will be chased by a giant Cheep Chomp the whole level. If it eats you, you're dead. Run across the pipes to the right and enter the red pipe. On the left, you will see a gap when the pipes turn. Go through the gap to find the [1st Star Coin] and a Giant ? Block with a Starman inside. You can use it to temporarily kill the Cheep Chomp, although it will respawn quickly. The first ? Block on the right will contain a power-up. Fire Flowers are especially helpful, as they can constantly take care of the big fish. Avoid the Cheep Cheeps, Eep Cheeps, and Deep Cheeps while also swimming away from the Cheep Chomp. At the Red Coin Ring, look to the right of the gold pipe before it turns to discover an 8-bit [Hidden Luigi] in a swimming pose. Collect all the Red Coins to get a power-up. At the top, you will see a gap in between the gold pipes. Wait and coins will fall out, along with the [2nd Star Coin]. But that's not it! Swim up through the gap and jump to reach a secret area. This can be rather tedious with the Cheep Chomp and the currents. There is a POW Block, coins, and the [3rd Star Coin], which you can all knock down from the sky with the POW Block. Jump over the gold pipes and cross the spinning pipes to reach the end! Beating this level will unlock a shortcut to World 5 - Soda Jungle, skipping the rest of World 1, World 2, World 3, and World 4! That's a large portion of the game you're skipping. --------------------------- World 2 - Layer-Cake Desert --------------------------- Layer-Cake Desert-1: Spike's Tumbling Desert Welcome to the desert world! Here you will be swamped by quicksand and killed by rocks and spikesââ¬Â¦ But let's get started! Hit the ? Block to grab a power-up and slide down the hill on your right. Jump over the quicksand and hit the block under the first Spike to kill it. Jump on the platform when it reaches its low point to get the [1st Star Coin]. Run up the hill the right while avoiding the spiked balls the Spikes throw at you. When you reach the top of hill, you will see a Spike throwing spiked balls from an alcove below. Jump on it after he throws a ball to kill it, then run left into the wall to find a hidden area with the [2nd Star Coin]. On the right, you will see another Spike throwing balls standing on a ? Block. Hit the block to kill it and to get a 1 Up. Be careful and time your jumps after hitting the Red Coin Ring to grab all eight Red Coins. Note that some of them move along with the platforms the Spikes are standing on. In between the eighth Red Coin and the P Switch, look in the ground to discover the [Hidden Luigi] as a fossil. Hit the P Switch and climb up the blocks to reach the [3rd Star Coin] while avoiding the Spike's attacks. Run across the platforms to reach the flagpole. After beating this level, a Red Toad House will be unlocked. Unfortunately, Nabbit will come and loot the house and run off to Acorn Plains-1. Catch him in the level to get a P-Acorn. This will occur once in all the other worlds at a certain point (except Peach's Castle and Superstar Road). Layer-Cake Desert-2: Underground Grrrols Enter the pipe to go underground. Before you jump in to hit the ? Blocks, wait for the Grrrol to fall off the platform. It will kill the Pokey and fall into the quicksand. Go to the platform where the Pokey was to reveal the [1st Star Coin]. Time your jumps when the platforms you stand on are at their highest point so you can jump over the Pokeys. Avoid being crushed in between vertically moving columns. Make sure to jump over the Grrrols when they come towards you. After a while, you will see a P Switch. Hit the switch and dash through the columns when they retract. Jump and spin to reach the [2nd Star Coin] in the air when you see it. There will be a ? Block with a power-up, but avoid the Grrrol that rolls nearby. Jump over the Grrrols on the moving platforms. Keep in mind that when the Grrrols hit the blocks, they will break the block and reverse direction. At the end, you will see the exit pipe above a large platform with a Mega Grrrol. You can still jump over the Mega Grrrol even though it is much taller. A spin may be necessary. To the right of the pipe will be the [3rd Star Coin] in the air. Jump when the platform is at its highest to reach it. Now go through the pipe to find the flagpole. The Hidden Luigi in this level is very tricky. To get it, you need the P-Acorn you receive from catching Nabbit in Acorn Plains-1. At the start of the level, keep boosting yourself against the right wall to discover a hidden shortcut above the top of the screen. Run to the right, and along the way you will see an 8 bit [Hidden Luigi] in the wall. If you keep going to the right, you will end up at the flagpole, skipping the entire level. Layer-Cake Desert-3 Piranhas in the Dark Just like Acorn Plains-Castle, this level has a lot of darkness. Jump onto the swinging platform and hit the ? Block for a Mushroom if you are small. Be careful not to hit the Big Piranha Plants. Time your jump correctly to barely clear the Piranha Plant and grab the [1st Star Coin], then spin to get enough air to make it to the second platform. Jump over the enemies and reach a set of three ? Blocks. The one on the left has a power-up. If you get a Fire Flower, kill the Big Piranha Plant and grab the [2nd Star Coin] when the platform reaches its low point. Otherwise, take a hit by the Big Piranha Plant and grab it. Hit the ? Block on the right to get a Glowing Baby Yoshi. It will give off light, and you can press ZL or ZR/shake the Wii Remote to light up the area for a short moment. Doing this will also stun the Fire Bros temporarily if you are right next to them. There will be another power-up in a ? Block if you need it. When you get to the part with many Big Piranha Plants in pipes shooting fire at you, look for a Big Piranha Plant in a green pipe hanging from the ceiling instead of a red pipe. Either kill it with fire or take a hit to enter the pipe. If you kill it, you should be able to see the level's [Hidden Luigi] as an 8-bit figure jumping into the pipe. Either way, go through the pipe to reach the [3rd Star Coin] and the end of the level. Layer-Cake Desert-Tower: Wind-Up Tower You will see a screw on a platform when you start. Jump on the screw and hold ZL or ZR/shake the Wii Remote to make the platforms come towards you. Make sure to jump before the walls can squish you. Quickly make your way up and jump onto the small center platform and jump again to reach the [1st Star Coin] before another platform blocks it. Be careful not to get hit by the Dry Bones. Climb upwards and hit the left ? Block for a power-up, then jump onto the screw on the left and spin it. Quickly jump up them and grab the [2nd Star Coin] near the third platform before it goes back into the wall. Spinning and wall jumping may help here, especially with Luigi's low traction. Make your way up and wind up the next screw to make the platforms come apart all the way. Jump up the right side and jump to the left side as soon as possible with a spin jump and climb up a few more platforms to spot an 8-bit [Hidden Luigi] before the platform covers it. Jump to the right side and climb up, then jump to the left side to grab the [3rd Star Coin]. Climb up the final few platforms before they come together to crush you to reach the boss door. Against the left wall is an invisible block with a power-up should you need it. Go inside to fight the boss. Kamek will sprinkle his magic on Boom Boom, making him stronger. He can now jump in the air towards you. Still, he shouldn't be too much trouble. Jump on him when he lands. Three hits should end the level. Beating this will unlock a Green Toad House, a Red Toad House, and the next two levels. Coming into contact with any enemies in the map section will make you fight them, and coming into contact with an item will give you it. You will also see Kamek sprinkle his magic onto the castle. Layer-Cake Desert-4: The Walls Have Eyes Jump onto the Moai Head on the left and jump to reveal a hidden 1-Up block. Run to the right and jump over the Moai Heads coming at you. You will see a Star Coin inside one of the Moai Heads. Ground-pound it to make it sink and grab the [1st Star Coin]. You will see three Moai Heads and two ? Blocks on the right. Ground-pound the middle Moai Head and jump to reveal a hidden block with a vine. Climb it to find a secret area with the [2nd Star Coin]. However, you may not want to get there yet. Go past the three Moai Heads onto the platform in between the Moai Heads and the mini pipe. Ground-pound to discover a pipe that will shoot you to the [Secret Exit], unlocking Layer-Cake Desert-Piranha Plant. Or, if you got a Mini Mushroom from defeating the Goombas on the map and you are now in Mini form, you can enter the mini pipe to find coins and a Moai Head. Climb up the Moai Head and ground-pound it to find the level's [Hidden Luigi]. Otherwise, exiting the secret area, jump onto the Moai Head on the right, and the Moai Heads will move. You will see the final Star Coin. To get it, jump down right when the Moai Heads start to move, and wall jump to keep yourself alive after grabbing the [3rd Star Coin] before the Moai Heads retract. Make your way over the final few Moai Heads to the flagpole. Layer-Cake Desert-5: Stone Spike Conveyors Kill the Stone Spike by jumping on it after it throws its ball, then ride the platform for the [1st Star Coin]. Make your way to a set of moving platforms with two Stone Spikes throwing balls from above. Jump onto the red mushroom from the platforms below and make your way to the right to the next set of moving platforms. After the ? Block, you will see a Stone Spike on a small red mushroom. From a moving platform, bounce off of his head and follow the line of coins for the [2nd Star Coin]. On the next set of moving platforms, hit the Green Coin Ring and grab all five clusters of Green Coins for a power-up. On the next platform, keep in mind that it will move very fast once you touch it, so be prepared to either jump off of it to safety or stay on it. On the second one, though, don't jump onto the third big one. Instead, jump over the third big platform to the green mushroom afterwards with a Stone Spike on it. Then spin jump to the first of the three small mushrooms with Stone Spikes on the right. You may end up getting hit. ALso, be careful not to fall off with Luigi's low traction. Then, once you are on the three small green mushrooms, jump to the left to find the [Hidden Luigi] in a wall. Now go back and land on the big platform, and it will start moving. Stay in the middle of the platform, and when it falls off the track, jump off right after the platform brings you through the [3rd Star Coin]. Then hit the flagpole. Layer-Cake Desert-6: Spinning Sandstones The ? Block has a Mushroom if you're small. Run over the spinning hills and jump to the sand pillars, being careful not to get hit by the Stalking Piranha Plants. They will stretch their necks upward to hit you when you're nearby. A spin jump should be enough to get over them. Be careful with the River Piranha Plants, as they will blow a spiked ball into the air. While you can spin jump over them, I recommend jumping in between the spiked balls and the River Piranha Plants. When you reach the next two River Piranha Plants, jump in between the spiked balls and the enemies for the [1st Star Coin]. Go right onto some more sand pillars, avoiding the Stalking Piranha Plants once again. On the fourth one, you will see a square hole in the background wall. Jump to find a hidden block with a vine in the middle of the square hole. It will lead you to an area with some Jump Blocks and the [2nd Star Coin]. Follow the coins and exit the area. Keep running on the hills to reach a platform with a ? Block. The ? Block has a power-up, but look at the platform you are standing on! It is made up of three statues, and the middle one bears a striking resemblance to someone we know. There's the [Hidden Luigi]. Grab the power-up and continue on. On the rolling hills, there will be a Red Coin Ring and a Lakitu throwing Stalking Piranha Plants onto the rolling hills. Grab the Red Coins (get the last one with a spin jump) to get a power-up. On the right you will see a River Piranha Plant and a Big Piranha Plant. If you got a Fire Flower, kill them both and run into the wall past the Big Piranha Plant to discover a hidden alcove with the [3rd Star Coin]. If you are big but don't have the Fire Suit, get hit by the Big Piranha Plant and run into the alcove to get it. Cross the final rolling hill to reach the flagpole. This will unlock the castle. Layer-Cake Desert-Castle: Morton's Lava-Block Castle This castle is a lot harder than the previous one, so be careful! Run to the right onto the moving platform, and hit the Red Coin Ring when the platform moves to the right. Dash past the platforms to get the first four Red Coins (you can run over gaps that are one block wide). Quickly jump through the next few platforms before they sink to get seven Red Coins. The platform with the seventh one is safe the stay on. When the platform on the right comes toward you, jump to grab the last Red Coin and land safely on the platform. Proceed forward with the moving platforms. Soon you will see a Star Coin surrounded by brick blocks. When the platform under it comes out of the lava, jump onto the platform of three brick blocks and break the blocks and jump to get the [1st Star Coin], then stand in the box to not get hit by the lava. When the platform comes out again, go to the next one. If you got an Ice Flower from the Red Coin Ring, freeze the Dry Bones and throw it at all the others on the platform that comes out of the lava for a 1-Up. Use that platform to move ahead, but be quick. You will then see another Star Coin right above the lava. A platform will come out and cover. Stand on that platform, then when you grab the [2nd Star Coin], immediately spin jump to one of the other platforms to safety. You will see the [Hidden Luigi] where the Star Coin was, right above the lava. On the right, many small platforms will come out of the lava. As soon as they all come out, jump onto the first big one and start running all the way. On the last small platform, jump to reach the [3rd Star Coin] above the boss door. Then enter it. Like the first castle, enter the cannon to blast to the airship to fight the boss, Morton. You will see that his stomps can stun you if you are on the ground. He will start by hitting the segments of the Pokey at you. Jump over the ones that roll on the ground, and run under the ones that fly through the air. After he finishes hitting all the segments off, run to him and jump on his head. Then jump over his rolling shell. Repeat the process two more times, remembering that his stomps will stun you if you are on the ground. Be careful not to fall off the edge of the platform! If you do, a wall jump can help you recover. After three hits, you will defeat his airship and unlock both World 3 - Sparkling Waters and World 4 - Frosted Glacier! Layer-Cake Desert-Piranha Plant: Slippery Rope Ladders An ice level in a desert world?! What madness is this?! Keep in mind that you can burn the floating ice platforms with fire. Run across the ice platforms and climb the ladder. Jump over the two Big Piranha Plants and you should see a Star Coin next to the wall at the bottom of the screen. Slide down the wall to grab the [1st Star Coin], then wall jump to reach the ladder and climb it to safety. Avoid the fireballs that the Piranha Plant shoots at you. On the right is a ? Block with a power-up. Make your way to the right end, then grab the Red Coin Ring and climb up the first ladder. Collect all the Red Coins on the second ladder, but don't climb to the top. Jump to the ladder on the left to grab another Red Coin and the [2nd Star Coin], then grab the last Red Coin above the right ladder. Climbing up, you will see the last Star Coin on the right. Either burn the ice yourself or get the Fire Bros to burn it all to get the [3rd Star Coin]. You should also be able to see the 8-bit [Hidden Luigi] of this level once the ice is all burned. Go through the pipe and run to the right to find the flagpole. This will unlock a shortcut to World 5 - Soda Jungle, skipping the rest of World 2 and all of World 3 and World 4. -------------------------- World 3 - Sparkling Waters -------------------------- Sparkling Waters-1: Huckit Beach Resort Welcome to the water world of this game! At the start, run left into the cabana for some coins if you wish. The third ? Block will have a Mushroom if you are small. Proceed right on the geysers, avoiding the Huckits' projectiles. Either sliding down from above or jumping out from below, wall jump from the wall on the right side of the Huckits into the cabana for the [1st Star Coin]. Hit the next ? Block for a power-up. Go to the right, where a bunch of geysers pop out and Huckits throw rocks. Look at the bottom of the screen where the third geyser is. You should be able to see an opening with a pipe in the water. When the geysers go down, quickly make your way into the pipe. Here you will find the [Hidden Luigi] and the [2nd Star Coin] under it. From the pipe, go right. If you are big, hit both the blocks under the first Huckit to kill it and reveal a 1-Up. Swim under and jump up the platforms to the right side. Above the column of the two Huckits on the right side, ground-pound through the blocks to kill the enemies and reveal the [3rd Star Coin]. Swim under and climb up or wall jump up to get it. Avoiding the final few Huckits and climb up the last several geysers to find the flagpole. Sparkling Waters-2: Urchin Reef Romp As you can see from the bottom of the screen and the title, this level will have a lot of Urchins. Before entering the pipe, run to the right wall to reveal a hidden alcove. Jump up and run to the left to find the [1st Star Coin]. Now go in the pipe. On the right, the currents will try to push you into the Mega Urchins. Rapidly press B/2 to swim against the current. There will be a ? Block that contains a Mushroom if you are small. Swim right, avoiding the groups of Eep Cheeps and Urchins. You will soon see a Mega Urchin over a Star Coin in a current. Swim through when the Mega Urchin moves to one side to grab the [2nd Star Coin]. Keep swimming to keep yourself afloat, then swim back when there's another opening. Keep continuing right. The ? Block has a power-up. If it gives you a Fire Flower, use it to kill the Urchins and nab the [3rd Star Coin]. If you are big but don't have fire, you can take a hit, grab the Star Coin, and swim back out before your invincibility period wears off. Avoiding the Eep Cheeps and hit the P Switch. Follow the coins and maneuver through the Mega Urchins to reach the exit pipe. Jump up the platforms and reach the flagpole! Just don't fall into all the Mega Urchins. Sparkling Waters-Tower: Shish-Kebab Tower One of the hardest levels yet. Before jumping up, realize that the spiked pillars move in and out VERY fast. Time your jump to avoid the spiked pillars. Avoid the Fire Bros and jump onto the platform behind the cage. Hug the right wall and you will find that the green Bowser Jr. head in the right wall is actually covering a hidden alcove with the [1st Star Coin]. If you miss it while riding the platform, you can drop down and get it. Wall jump back up. On the right is a ? Block that will give you a Mushroom if you are small. Time your jumps and recognize the patterns to slowly ascent the platforms. You will see a Star Coin in the upper right corner. To get it, jump when the pillar below it retracts, then wall jump in the tiny space until it retracts again. Make your way to the left side and jump onto the platform. While it moves upward, watch the right side of the wall to see a giant [Hidden Luigi]. Avoiding the next two spiked pillars and kill the Fire Bro. On the left are some brick blocks below where the spiked pillar comes out. Quickly run over and ground-pound them when the pillar retracts to reach the [3rd Star Coin]. If you are small, tough luck. You can't get this one. Make your way out and jump up to where the boss door is. The ? Block on the left gives you a power-up. Time to fight Boom Boom again! Kamek sprinkles some more magic, and now Boom Boom will jump and spin jump at you. Jump on him right after he finishes a jump. Once again, three hits will do it. After this level, you will see that something is going wrong with Peach's Castle. Very wrong. Sparkling Waters-Ghost House: Haunted Cargo Hold The first ghost house of the game! Not really a ghost "house", though. The ? Block will have a Mushroom if you are small. Jump right using the poles, timing your jumps to avoid the Boos. At the right side, enter one of the three pipes. Go into the water on the right and swim downwards to find the [Hidden Luigi] in the left wall. Be careful not to get hit by the Spiny Cheep Cheeps. Get back onto land as soon as possible. Jump across the rotating platforms. Above the third one, you will see a Star Coin. Spin jump off of the platform to get the [1st Star Coin]. Move right with the poles and hit the Red Coin Ring. Collect all eight Red Coins on the rotating platforms. On the second one, spin jump to hit all four. After claiming your power-up, jump into the water and swim left. You will find the [2nd Star Coin] swinging back and forth in the water. Be careful with the Spiny Cheep Cheeps. Use the poles again and keep going right. You will see the last Star Coin above one of the rotating platforms. Spin jump to reach the [3rd Star Coin]. Now you can make your way over the last few spinning platforms and exit through the pipe. Be careful not to get hit by the circle of Boos, and you can reach the flagpole. However, there is a secret exit. Before exiting with the pipe, swim down to the bottom right corner, avoiding the Spiny Cheep Cheeps. There will be a hidden alcove with a pipe that brings you to the [Secret Exit]. This will unlock Sparkling Waters-Leaf: Beanstalk Jungle. Sparkling Waters-3: Waterspout Sprint Run to the right onto the geysers. The ? Block will have a Mushroom if you are small. Continue to the right and you will come across some Piranha Plants. You will see a Big Piranha Plant guarding a Star Coin. Either take a hit or use the Koopa on the right to snag the [1st Star Coin]. Go past the trees and you will find a Red Coin Ring above four geysers. Before hitting it, look in between the second and third geysers in the middle to spot an 8-bit [Hidden Luigi]. Run over the geysers and time your jumps to clear the Piranha Plants and reach the Red Coins. Unless you already have a power-up, the game will give you the Penguin Suit. You can use this to freeze the Piranha Plants. Freezing enemies on geysers will cause them to shatter automatically when the geyser stops. Freeze the second Piranha Plant, wait for it to die, then jump right before the geyser comes up again to claim the [2nd Star Coin]. Ignore the Big Piranha Plant; it will immediately thaw when you freeze it. Jump over it to reach the final few geysers. You will see the last Star Coin guarded by the three Piranha Plants on the last three geysers. Either take a hit or freeze them all if you still have your Penguin Suit to get the [3rd Star Coin]. Now jump off of the tallest geyser to reach the flagpole. Sparkling Waters-4: The Great Geysers When you start, run to the left wall to see the [Hidden Luigi] in the wall. The left ? Block will have a power-up inside. Avoid the Cheep Cheep that comes up under the first geyser and jump over the River Piranha Plant. Jump over or on the Koopas and jump to the third geyser, avoiding all the Cheep Cheeps that come at you. When the geyser stops, quickly ground-pound to break the blocks and reach the [1st Star Coin]. Jump to the next geyser and hit the P Switch in the block to reveal a trail of coins. Quickly follow the trail of coins over the next few geysers, timing your jumps so you avoid the Cheep Cheeps. When you reach the end of the trail, hit the left ? Block for a power-up. If you get the Penguin, you'll want to keep it. Jump right to see a Star Coin and a Koopa on a tree. Either spin jump, freeze a Cheep Cheep and use it as a platform, or bounce off of a Cheep Cheep to reach the [2nd Star Coin]. You can also spin jump from the previous geyser. If you do not have a Penguin Suit, you may want to take a Koopa shell from this Koopa or the one on the next geyser. Keep going and you will find five River Piranha Plants in a row guarding the last Star Coin. Either freeze them all, throw a Koopa shell, or take a hit to grab the [3rd Star Coin]. Jump to the last geyser. Be careful not to get hit by all the Cheep Cheeps! Use the lone block in midair after the final geyser to reach the flagpole. Sparkling Waters-5: Dragoneel Depths As the name might tell you, this level will involve Dragoneels! The left ? Block will have a Mushroom if you are small. Enter the pipe to go underwater. As you swim right, you will see a Dragoneel homing in on you! Keep moving and you should be able to avoid them. Dragoneels can only be killed with a Starman, so don't try any funny stuff. The ? Block in the middle of the blocks contains a power-up if you need one. Swim upwards and you will see two Urchins on the right. Kill them with the Fire Flower (or take a hit, like always) and grab the [1st Star Coin]. Keep in mind that a second Dragoneel will also come at you, so don't let yourself get trapped in the corner. Swim to the right and grab the [2nd Star Coin] in the middle of the blocks. Watch out for the Urchins and Dragoneels. Keep in mind that Dragoneels can only travel in a circular movement. You can either go left or right. Going right, you will find a 1-Up block. Going left, you will find a Blue Coin Ring, which does the same thing as a P Switch. You can gather the Blue Coins, but the Blue Coin Ring will not transform one of the blocks into a coin, meaning there is something inside. Hit it for a 1-Up. In the middle of the next set of rotating blocks, on of the ? Blocks will contain another power-up. The exit pipe is in the upper right corner, but go to the upper left corner. Lure one of the Dragoneels into killing the Mega Urchin blocking the passage. When the Mega Urchin is killed, you will see the [Hidden Luigi] where it was. Go left into the passageway and enter the pipe for the [3rd Star Coin]. Run right to reach the flagpole. Sparkling Waters-Castle: Larry's Trigger-Happy Castle When you start, run right to avoid getting hit by the Banzai Bill. The ? Block will contain a Mushroom if you are small. From the blocks on the right, jump onto the Bill Blaster and either bounce off of a Bullet Bill or spin jump to reach the [1st Star Coin] in the air. On the right, the right block contains a power-up, which could be an Ice Flower if you are big. If you jump on top of the blocks and jump again, you will find a Mini Mushroom block, which can get you through a hidden shortcut with coins. However, you will be missing out on a Star Coin. If you want to use this shortcut, simply climb up the brick wall next to the pipe. Otherwise, go in the pipe on the right. In the water, avoid the Torpedo Teds, as they will turn to home in on you. Hit the brick block in between the two ? Blocks to reveal a P Switch. Hit the P Switch and swim through the coins for the [2nd Star Coin]. Alternatively, use the Torpedo Teds to break the blocks around it. While the effects of the P Switch are still active, quickly swim to the right and collect the coins above the pipe to reveal the [Hidden Luigi] of the level. Collect the power-up from the ? Block and quickly jump across the brick blocks as the King Bills come after you. Jump off of the blocks to reach the [3rd Star Coin] before the King Bills break them. Then run right to the boss door. If you need a power-up, there is a hidden block against the wall past the boss door. To avoid getting hit by the onslaught of King Bills, duck in the little hole at the end. Now enter the boss door and enter the cannon to face Larry. He will shoot attacks from his wand at you, but geysers will come up from the ground. After jumping on him, his shell will move up when it hits a geyser, and the geysers will also affect his jumping patterns, making this a rather tedious boss. Jump on him when he charges up an attack. Three hits will clear World 3. You can now go to World 5 - Soda Jungle, or you can go back to World 4 - Frosted Glacier. Sparkling Waters-Leaf: Beanstalk Jungle Jump on the beanstalk leaves on the right as they come out. Hit the ? Block to find Yoshi! Continue climbing the leaves upward. It may be helpful to swallow the Lakitu and the Piranha Plants. Hit the Green Coin Ring and collect all five clusters of Green Coins. You will see a Star Coin in midair. Either use the Lakitu's cloud or use Yoshi to flutter jump to the nearby platform after grabbing the [1st Star Coin]. Keep moving right, avoiding the Piranha Plants and Big Piranha Plants. Avoid the swarm of Waddlewings at the end and look to the right. Quickly jump onto the rightmost leaf before it falls to grab the [2nd Star Coin]. Jump back to safety, but don't go in the red pipe yet. Wait for the leaf under where the Star Coin was to fall, and you will see that it was covering the [Hidden Luigi] of the level. But wait! Still don't go in the red pipe. There will be two leaves that do not fall that let you reach the red pipe. Stand on the upper left one and jump to left into the rock to find a hidden alcove with a pipe. Enter the pipe. You will see that you are in a hidden area with a platform above you. Jump below the space that the platform does not occupy to reveal two hidden 1-Up blocks. Jump up onto the platform and hit those two blocks for two more 1-Ups! Jump onto the next platform for the [3rd Star Coin]. Alternatively, you can take the normal exit pipe and use the left leaf of the final beanstalk to jump into the alcove for the Star Coin, but you will be unable to get the four 1-Ups. Run to the right and hit the flagpole. This will unlock a secret shortcut to World 6 - Rock-Candy Mines. ---------------------------- 5) World 4 - Frosted Glacier ---------------------------- Frosted Glacier-1: Broozers and Barrels Hey! A Mario snowman! There's another reference to Mario! Anyway, jump up using the spinning stars and pick up a barrel if you want. Throw it at the Broozers and run to the left, but be prepared to jump over a barrel. The Broozers take three jumps to kill, although you can defeat them in one hit with a barrel, fire, or a ground-pound. Lure the Broozer to the right side and bounce off of it to reach the platform. Then jump again to reach an alcove with the [1st Star Coin]. Watch out for the Broozer just above you, though. Jump up with the Jump Blocks and be prepared to dodge some more barrels. Lure one of the Broozers up here to smash the box blocking the way to the [2nd Star Coin]. Be careful when getting it. Avoiding the Broozers and Piranha Plants, use the Jump Blocks to go up another level. Jump over the barrels and the Broozers and climb up with the platforms. You will see two boxes over a gap. Quickly jump on the blocks and spin jump to reach the [3rd Star Coin]. The smaller box has a 1-Up inside. But before you hit the flagpole, wait until the time has the same digit for the ones and tens place (see 11) Tips, Tricks, and Secrets) so that you can go past the castle and get an item. As the Toad gives you the item, you should be able to see the [Hidden Luigi] as a snowman. Sneaky! Frosted Glacier-2: Cooligan Shrooms Jump onto the mushroom on the right and be prepared to jump over a Cooligan sliding at you. Hit the ? Block for a Mushroom if you are small. Jump to the next mushroom and dodge the Cooligans, then jump to reach the [1st Star Coin] and bounce off of the Cooligans from the third mushroom. The ? Block has a power-up. Jump to the small mushroom on the right and wait for all the Cooligans to pass. Then dash to one of the locations where the coins are. Usually, the Cooligans will not hit you in those spots. Climb up the hill and slide down. Jump onto the mushrooms on the right and hit the ? Block for a power-up, avoiding the Cooligans coming out from the pipe. If you get an Ice Flower, don't lose it. You will see a Star Coin above several Cooligans in a small area below a mushroom. Freezing them all with the Ice Flower is efficient, but you can bounce off of them and grab the [2nd Star Coin], which can be kind of risky. Remember to watch out for the Cooligans from the pipe. Jump over the wall to find the other end of the pipe, where Cooligans are also coming out of. Where are they coming from, anyway? Freeze a Cooligan and hitch a ride by jumping on it while frozen. Ride it across the Munchers and jump at the end to snag the [3rd Star Coin]. If you collected all the coins, you should be be able to see the [Hidden Luigi] clinging onto the stem of the nearest mushroom on the left. Make your way over the final few mushrooms on the right to reach the flagpole. Frosted Glacier-Tower: Icicle Tower Hit the ? Block for a Mushroom if you are small. Don't go to the right, however. Wall jump in the area right above you to discover a hidden alcove with a platform that the [Hidden Luigi] is crouching on. Wall jump to the next platform. If you do go right, you can still reach it by not jumping when you get to the second platform, as it is slightly above the ground next to it, meaning you will fall past it and reach the hidden area. As you jump onto the second platform, you should be able to see some water droplets falling down. These signify where the icicles are going to fall. After the first set of icicles, hug the right wall to find an indent in the wall that is actually another hidden area that has the [1st Star Coin]. Jump onto the next moving platform. It will move to the left as well as upwards, so keep your position to dodge the icicles. When you get to the next platform, it will move upwards and to the right. When the path curves and moves left, stand on the very left of the platform to avoid getting hit by the icicles. When you jump to the stable platform, jump under the two brick blocks to avoid getting hit by the falling icicles that cover the whole platform. The left one has a power-up inside. Jump up where there is a space in the icicles. Run to the very right and jump up and again. This should kill the Dry Bones and give you a safe path to run to the left side to get the [2nd Star Coin]. Jump up at the very left to kill the next two Dry Bones. Now run to the right and jump onto the platform. As it moves up, hug the left wall to find another secret area. From your platform, jump to the left near the icicles and the Bony Beetles to disrupt the icicles, then spin back to your platform while the icicles fall down and kill them all, giving you easy access to the [3rd Star Coin]. Go into the pipe on the left, which will shoot you to the boss door. There is a ? Block with a power-up on the right if you need one. Now go and fight Boom Boom again! This battle is the same as the one in World 3, except the floor is ice, which can make things very tricky. Once again, three hits will do it in for him. Onto the next level! Frosted Glacier-3: Fire and Ice The courses are actually getting easier in this world. Jump onto the platform on the right, ignoring the Goombas that the Fire Bros may reveal. The ? Block above the moving platform contains a Mushroom if you are small. If you have a Fire Flower, use to burn all the Goombas below. Otherwise, jump down and quickly run into the right wall, taking a hit. You will discover a hidden alcove with a pipe that leads to the [Hidden Luigi] as an ice sculpture and the [1st Star Coin]. After exiting, touch the Green Coin Ring. Run into the first two clusters and jump for the third, keep running past all the fire to gather the fourth and fifth for a power-up. After jumping out of the passageway with all the Piranha Plants, you will see an indent in the ceiling above. Wall jump up there to find a hidden alcove in the left wall with the [2nd Star Coin]. On the right, the ? Block will contain a power-up. Be careful of the Fire Bro, however. Now jump on top of the ? Block and jump again to reveal a hidden block. Jump on top of that to see a P Switch on the ceiling. Hit the P Switch and jump into the hole made on the left. Quickly dash and crouch while moving the slide through the gap to reach the [3rd Star Coin]. Jump out before the P Switch wears off. Avoiding the Piranha Plants at the end, make your way over the final few moving platforms to reach the flagpole. Frosted Glacier-4: Weighty Waddlewings Hey, there's a Blue Toad snowman on the left! The right ? Block will have a Mushroom if you are small. Jump onto the set of platforms on the right. When standing on one, that one will drop and the other one will rise. Don't stay on one for too long, as they will both fall should one drop too low. Avoid the Banzai Bills and keep going right. Jump over or kill the Waddlewing and go right to the next two platforms. Avoid the Banzai Bill and jump to the right platform. To get the Star Coin, lower the platform and jump to the [1st Star Coin], then wall jump to safe ground on the right. Watch out for the Waddlewings! As you go down the next hill, slide down to kill all the Waddlewings and get a Super Acorn! It may help you for staying alive. Jump onto the next couple of platforms and avoid the Waddlewing that flies at you. When you jump to the next two, quickly jump, grab the [2nd Star Coin], and jump to the next set because the Waddlewing is fat and will weight down your platform, causing them both to fall. On the next set, move quickly, as the platforms will quickly fall. You will see a Star Coin in a hole with a Waddlewing flying around. Jump in and boost with the Squirrel Suit to cling onto the walls of the upper narrower part of the hole. Then jump out. Hurry across this last set of platforms and bounce off of the Banzai Bills. You should be able to see three Banzai Bill Blasters. Look at the center of the bottom right one to see the [Hidden Luigi] as a face. As you hit the flagpole, you should be able to see a Yellow Toad snowman and a Princess Peach snowman (with bananas for a crown). How nice! Frosted Glacier-5: Ice-Slide Expressway Hit the ? Block for a power-up, then go right next to the pipe and jump to find a hidden block with another power-up. Even if you come in small, you will get a Penguin Suit by getting both power-ups. Use the block to go in the pipe. Hold Right when you go down to start sliding. Keep holding Right; nothing will hit you for now. After the wheel where you coins move against you and the wheel, be prepared to jump to reach a platform with the [1st Star Coin]. If you accidentally stop sliding, ground-pound on a wheel to start again. Jump to hit the Blue Coin Ring and use the Blue Coins as a guide for where to jump. After the end, hit the Red Coin Ring. Make sure to keep your jumps as short as possible so as not to overshoot. Be prepared to jump right after the sixth Red Coin to break through the blocks and grab the [2nd Star Coin]. Slide up the hill and over the water. Jump onto the ice platforms, but don't jump so high as to hit the Piranha Plants. At the end, slide onto the platforms and break the blocks to reach another exit pipe above the bottom one. Before entering it, jump to find a hidden alcove with the [3rd Star Coin] and the [Hidden Luigi]. Now exit with either pipe and hit the flagpole. Frosted Glacier-Ghost House: Peek-a-Boo Ghost House Follow the signs and go right! Wait, what? Wait a bit and the platform will fall. Now go right and jump onto the moving platforms. While you can keep jumping ahead, I recommend staying on one platform for the majority of this part. Luigi's slippery controls make it a lot harder to stay on. The ? Block in the middle of the five contains a Mushroom if you are small. Now the platforms will send you crashing straight into a wall. Wait, what? Man, this is confusing. Keep riding the platforms. You will see a circle of Boos. When there is an opening, jump to the next platform. Do the same with the other side. If there is no opening, jump to the previous platform. However, stay in the circle of Boos and wait until the platforms reach their high point of the wave. When there is an opening above, wall jump off of the left wall above you to find that the right wall above you is not a wall, and is hiding the [2nd Star Coin]. Wait, WHAT? Man, I don't get this level. Don't worry, you haven't missed anything. From this platform, run to the left and jump to find a hidden area above the wall. Keep running left to find a door. Enter the door and jump on the blocks on the right. Jump quickly, as they will start falling. Jump from the fifth block before it falls to grab the [1st Star Coin]. You can also spin jump from the fourth block if you don't make it up in time. Right in front of you is the [Secret Exit], unlocking Frosted Glacier-Fliprus. Now, back to where the second Star Coin was if you're not taking the secret exit. Jump right onto a moving platform and go through the wall. You will see a stationary platform in midair. Jump on it and then jump to the right to discover another platform. Use it to jump over the Big Boo. Face the Big Boo to make sure he doesn't come at you. On the right, you will find stationary ground and seven ? Blocks. The one in the middle contains a power-up. Run right through the wall and jump back onto the moving platforms. Instead of jumping up onto the higher ground on the right, jump through an opening and let the platforms lead you through the wall to find the [3rd Star Coin]. Jump out when there is another opening on the right. If you look at the top of the screen, you can see a candle on the right. Look to the left of the candle to see the [Hidden Luigi] as a cobweb. The same rule applies to this last circle of Boos. Jump through when there is an opening; otherwise, jump back. Jump off the platforms and run through the walls to find the exit door. Jump onto the blocks and quickly jump to reach the flagpole, as these blocks will quickly disappear. Frosted Glacier-Castle: Wendy's Thwomp Castle Go to the right, jump onto the brick blocks, and RUN!!! Run as fast as you can to the right, making a jump along the way. When you reach safe ground, you can hit the left ? Block for a Mushroom if you are small. Avoid the Dry Bones on the next platform. Jump right and take cover on the platform in between where the first two Thwomps fall. While the second one gets back up, wall jump off of the right wall in the pit back to the left side, grabbing the [1st Star Coin]. The Thwomp there should still be rising back up as you take it. Now jump in the between the next two Thwomps, take cover, and jump to the right and wall jump while they rise to reach the next section. Get close to the Thwomp to send him crashing down, then immediately slide down and do a very small wall jump to reach the right side, grabbing the [2nd Star Coin] and avoiding the Thwomp. Grab the Red Coin Ring and run under the Thwomps while jumping at times to grab all eight. Now jump onto the brick blocks on the right and RUN!!! While you may want to focus on your running and jumping, watch the spaces where the Thwomps used to be after they fall as you run. Behind the sixth Thwomp is the [Hidden Luigi], which you can spot after the Thwomp falls. When you reach the last Thwomp, which is much higher and above ground, wall jump off of the brick blocks and then wall jump off of the wall on the left. By this time the Thwomp should have fallen, so use that wall jump to get to the platform on the right. However, wait for the Thwomp to rise up again, and immediately run left under the Thwomp and then right on the ground into a hidden alcove with the [3rd Star Coin]. Against the right wall is a hidden ? Block with a power-up if you need one. Now enter the boss door and enter the cannon to be taken to Wendy's airship. She will cast out several rings that will hit icicles on the ceiling and cause them to fall. Avoid the rings and the icicles, then jump on her head. Jump over her shell as she rolls around. The ice can make this a bit tricky. Be careful not to hit the icicles when jumping from the sides. Repeat the process two more times to clear this world, unlocking World 5 - Soda Jungle. Frosted Glacier-Fliprus: Fliprus Foes Before you go right, turn left and jump to discover a hidden block with a coin. Jump again to find a hidden block with a 1-Up. Jump up to see the [Hidden Luigi] on the block! Now go right. Ugh, that's an ugly Bowser Jr. snowman. The ? Block will have a Mushroom if you are small. Avoid the snowball the Fliprus throws at you and jump on his head. Jump onto the moving platform in the water. Jump to the next one, quickly running to the middle to avoid the icicles. The ? Block has a power-up inside. Jump on the ? Block and jump again to discover a hidden alcove with a ? Block that contains a 1-Up. Jump to the next platform and quickly run until you reach a gap in the icicles above. Be prepared to jump to the next platform at one point as your platform will sink. You will see that you can go to a platform above. Stand on the platform until it sinks completely. Then it will shoot back up. Jump when the platform is at its highest point to reach an area with the [1st Star Coin]. Avoiding the two icicles, jump to the right to find a hidden passage that will lead you back to the ground. Run right and avoid the Fliprus. On the first platform in the water, wait until the platform sinks, then jump up when it rises to hit the middle block and kill the Fliprus, revealing a power-up. Now use the same strategy to jump on top of said block and jump again to discover a hidden block with a 1-Up. Drop down and keep running and jumping over the platforms. From the third to the fourth platform, you will see a Star Coin in the air. Simply run over the third platform and quickly jump to the [2nd Star Coin] before it can sink too much. You will see Flipruses throwing snowballs from narrow platforms ahead. After they throw their snowballs, jump over and jump on it to kill it. The snowballs will kill the spiked balls of the River Piranha Plants in the water for you. As you jump on the third Fliprus, you should get the [3rd Star Coin] from the platform in the process. Keep jumping right to find the flagpole. This will unlock a shortcut to World 6 - Rock-Candy Mines. ----------------------------- 11) Tips, Tricks, and Secrets ----------------------------- Cancel a Ground-Pound: If you want to stop a ground-pound in midair, press Up on the Control Stick/Control Pad.
