Although the world is now technically at peace, Mobile Suit pilots on all fronts are still clinging to their ideals and continuing their fight. Their renegade actions are threatening the fragile peace that now exists. Heero Yuy's first duty as a soldier was to fight for peace. Reluctantly called back into action, he is now determined to maintain the tenuous peace of the world at any cost - even if it means battling former friends and foes alike. Heero Yuy's new mission is to disarm all remaining Mobile Suits. The future of the world is in his hands... ===================================Section 2=================================== Name Pronunciations These are the pronunciations of all the Mecha names as said in the game. Heero Yuy: It looks like our war isn't over yet. There are some who can't abandon their cause. They are still fighting in their Mobile Suits. Who knew that I would pilot my Mobile Suit once again, in order to maintain peace, this time... While Selecting Your Mobile Suit Heero Yuy: My last mission. Which Mobile Suit is for me? Heero Yuy: How about this one? Heero Yuy: ....... Heero Yuy: This isn't bad. Heero Yuy: ... Acguy!? Heero Yuy: It's all the same. Heero Yuy: Okay, ready to go! Let's do it! Mission Log Heero Yuy: My war isn't over yet. Heero Yuy vs. Zaku II Heero Yuy: A Mobile Suit is approaching... Switch to defensive mode. Denim: Is this a mobile suit? I'm on a reconnaissance mission, but you found me first! Heero Yuy: Recon mission? Who are you? Denim: You'll wish you never met me! After Victory Heero Yuy: Mission Accomplished Denim: This can't be happening! Heero Yuy: He said he's just a scout, but is there someone trying to test me? Heero Yuy vs. Acguy Heero Yuy: Unidentified Mobile Suit approaching. Is that an enemy? Akahana: Woah! Close up, that Mobile Suit looks even more dangerous. Heero Yuy: Are you friend or foe? Akahana: I have nothing against you... but I have my orders. Sorry, I must defeat you. After Victory Heero Yuy: Why did you attack me? Akahana: Wait! I'll tell. Don't shoot me! Heero Yuy: Who gave you these orders? Akahana: Well, uh, uh... my mission was given to me by my commander, but I don't actually know who issued these orders. Heero Yuy: Then I don't have time to waste on you. Get lost! Akahana: Okay! Thanks!! Heero Yuy: Hmmm... I wonder who's behind all this? Heero Yuy vs. Z Gundam Heero Yuy: Enemy Mobile Suit approaching. Kamiru: Wait!! Are you Heero Yuy? I'm Kamiru Bidan. Heero Yuy: Kamiru? That's a girl's name, but you're a man. Kamiru: .... Is "Kamiru" a bad name for a guy? Make fun of me? I'll teach you! Heero Yuy: .... After Victory Heero Yuy: Who sent you? Kamiru: Sorry, I just lost my temper. Actually, I came to give you a message. Heero Yuy: Spit it out! Kamiru: Someone has been observing you. He's trying to collect all remaining Mobile Suits to reignit the war once again. He'll defeat whoever gets in his way. Heero Yuy: Well, thanks for the info. Kamiru: I am weak compared to you. Please fight in my place. Heero Yuy vs. Quin Mantha Heero Yuy: Unidentified object approaching at high speed. Judging by it's size, it must be a Mobile Armor. No, it's big, but not Mobile Armor size. But no, it isn't... could it be a Mobile Suit? Ple-Two: Aren't you Heero Yuy? Heero Yuy: .... Ple-Two: What's the matter, cat got your tongue? He said you were a coward. Heero Yuy: He? Does the person who sent you know me? Ple-Two: I have nothing to say to you. I'm Ple-Two. My purpose is to defeat you! Heero Yuy: Hmm... I wonder has this girl's self-awareness been heightened? Is she an "Artificial NewType?" Ple-Two: Die, Heero Yuy! After Victory Heero Yuy: Resistance is futile. Your Mobile Suit has lost it's combat ability. Ple-Two: My mission is to destroy you, Heero Yuy! I'll take you down. Heero Yuy: Let me ask you one more time. Is it your will to die? Ple-Two: What? Heero Yuy: The Mobile Suit that drives you to the fight does not exist any longer. Do you still wish to fight with me? Ple-Two: .... Heero Yuy: You're not a puppet. Ple-Two: ... That's true... Heero, you freed me from that Mobile Suit. Heero Yuy: No one can force you to kill anymore. You don't have to kill anybody now. Ple-Two: Thank you, Heero. But be careful. The man who sent me knew you well. Heero Yuy: Hmm... a man I know? Heero Yuy vs. Hy-Gogg Heero Yuy: Target confirmed. Model: MSM-03C Hy-Gogg. Operation strategy: The destruction of target Mobile Suit. Let's go! Mikhail: You don't know who you're messing with. Heero Yuy: The war between us is over. This world has no need for Mobile Suits anymore. Abandon your Mobile Suit. Mikhail: Don't be a fool! I'm a professional soldier. Do you expect me to stop fighting just because you say so? Heero Yuy: Are you done babbling? I'll ask you one more time. Abandon your Mobile Suit now! Mikhail: Ha, that is my line! I'll teach you how to fight. Let's get to it! After Victory Heero Yuy: The destruction of target is confirmed. Mikhail: Damn! It's over. Heero Yuy: I never planned to kill you... A true soldier fights for peace not war. Mikhail: .... I can't believe I lost! Heero Yuy vs. ZZ Gundam Heero Yuy: Target confirmed. Model: MSZ-010 ZZ-Gundam. Judau: What, Gundam? Why is a Gundam here? Heero Yuy: You're Judau Ashta, right? I'll say it only once. Abandon your Mobile Suit! This world has no more need for weapons. Judau: Who would do such a stupid thing. I make money with my ZZ-Gundam and put my younger sister Lina through school. I won't give it up without a fight. Heero Yuy: Then i'll just have to eliminate you by force. Judau: Go ahead, if you think you're up to the task. After Victory Heero Yuy: Elimination of target Mobile Suit confirmed. Judau: Argh! You don't know what I had to go through to get this thing! Couldn't you have taken it a little easier on me? Heero Yuy: You don't have to be like me. I'm the only one who needs to risk his life in this war. Judau: You.... Heero Yuy vs. Byg Zam Heero Yuy: Target in sight. MA-08 Big Zam. Dozle: Huh?! It can't be Heero Yuy! Heero Yuy: Target confirmed. Destroy target. Dozle: It's gonna take more than one Mobile Suit to defeat me. After Victory Heero Yuy: You missed your opportunity at victory. Dozle: You son of a... You think i'll quit now?! Heero Yuy: What? You still want to fight? Dozle: Errrr! I won't give up! I won't give up the glory of Zeon. Heero Yuy: .... Heero Yuy vs. Gundam (Random) Heero Yuy: Target in site. RX-78 Gundam. Mission: Destroy targeted Mobile Suits. Amuro: Look's like he's coming this way. Heero Yuy: I'll destroy you. Amuro: Damn it! Come and try, i'll teach you. That's not going to happen. You're in the big leagues now. After Victory Heero Yuy: Not bad for a beginner, but resistance is futile. Amuro: .... Heero Yuy: I'm the only one who needs to be fighting this war. Go back to where you belong. Amuro: Where I belong? You're right, a NewType is not just an instrument of slaughter. Heero Yuy, right? You really taught me something... thanks... Heero Yuy vs. Qubeley Heero Yuy: Unidentified Mobile Suit approaching. Who is that? Haman: Even though you're not a NewType, I sense a strong power within you. Follow me. Heero Yuy: What did you say? Haman: You're aware, aren't you? Mankind's foolishness did not change even after all that fighting... Man must be shown the way, thus I will revive the Zabi Family. I need those with power on my side. Heero Yuy: My gut feelings tell me that you're the enemy. Haman: What? Who are you to question me! If you don't join me, you will be destroyed! After Victory Heero Yuy: I was tought to go with my instincts. Haman: I can't believe it. You defeated me. I'm ashamed of myself for losing so easily. Heero: .... Haman: I'm glad to have come back and finally meet such a worthy opponent. Heero Yuy: Haman Karn! When will this madness end? Heero Yuy vs. GP02A Heero Yuy: Model confirmed: RX-78GP02A. Target confirmed. Let's do it! Gato: Who are you? Heero Yuy: Your Mobile Suit will be destroyed. Since the war has ended. Mobile Suits are no longer needed. Gato: Nonsense! This Mobile Suit is needed to revive Zeon and rid corruption from earth's society and regain true freedom. Heero Yuy: If that's what you think, I'm forced to eliminate you! Gato: No way! Nobody's going to stop my dream of reviving Zeon! Especially a punk like you. After Victory Heero Yuy: Your luck just ran out. Gato: I can't believe it... I lost. But keep in mind. He who prevent the revival of Zeon will surely be buried. Heero: .... Heero Yuy vs. Zeong Heero Yuy: Target confirmed. Model: MSN-02 Zeong. Pilot is Char Aznable. Operational strategy: The destruction of target Mobile Suits. Char: Is this Heero Yuy? Do you have the guts to take me on. All I want to see is the progress of the human race. Heero: So you just want to repeat our sad history of war? Char: .... The fist once raised can't be put away. We all need to follow our destiny. Therefore, I'll kill you! After Victory Heero Yuy: The more you fight, the more the sacrifice of peace becomes useless. I'm sure you already noticed that the war has ended. Char: .... Heero Yuy vs. U-Gundam Heero Yuy: What's this movement? Is a Mobile Suit approaching? Amuro: .... Heero Yuy: Is that Amuro Ray? Amuro: Must be Heero. Here I go!! Heero Yuy: Don't get in my way. Amuro: The U-Gundam isn't only for show!! After Victory Heero Yuy: What is this? Amuro: Just as I thought. Heero Yuy: ? Amuro: The present situation forces you to reveal your true goals to the world now. You can show the people your true intentions. Heero Yuy: You were testing me? But you overestimated me on one thing. Fighting is all I know! Amuro: That's enough for now. Only you can fight harder than anybody else... Heero Yuy: I'm as tough as they come. Heero Yuy vs. The-O Heero Yuy: I detect a high-energy reaction. Switching to evasive maneuvers. Scirocco: Woah, just as I expected. He dodged my The-Os attack. Heero Yuy: Who the hell are you? Scirocco: Ha ha ha, no need for introductions, cuz you're gonna meet your maker. After Victory Heero Yuy: Why did you attack me? Scirocco: Damn! I can't believe it, you defeated me! How did I lost the battle? Heero Yuy: Tell me why! Scirocco: Ha ha ha ha... Just like that man said, you're even more dangerous than I thought. Heero Yuy: What man? Scirocco: Do't think it's over just because you defeated me. I'm not your only enemy. Don't ever forget it! Heero Yuy: .... Hmm... other enemies? Heero Yuy vs. Sazabi Heero Yuy: Mobile Suit approaching at combat speed. No, it can't be... Char: Heero Yuy. You don't know how dangerous you are. Your combat skills are too dangerous. So, i'll rid the world of you, once and for all! Heero Yuy: Is that all you got to say? I'll say this only once. Abandon your Mobile Suit! Char: To recreate this world, someone needs to carry on the legacy of humanity. People who live on Earth only think of themselves. That's why I'm going to exterminate tham all! Heero Yuy: Fine. Be prepared to fight to the end, I'll destroy you. After Victory Heero Yuy: I only know this way of life. But, if it's the people's will, I will give up my power. Char: .... Heero Yuy: All humans are weak including you and me. Char: Oh really? Beacause I was able to read the half-hearted thoughts of people, I lost hope for all human kind and sought atonement from them. But that was just my ego. Isn't that so? Heero Yuy vs. Neue Ziel Heero Yuy: Mobile Armor approaching. Gato: .... Heero Yuy: Are you Anavel Gato? Gato: You are correct. I will defeat you, Heero Yuy! To prove that many soldiers did not die in vain and to raise the flag of Zeon! After Victory Heero Yuy: Should the flag of Zeon be raised at the cost of peace? Gato: Well, it looks like you and I have different values. But remember this, even if you beat me, the truth of your holy war will not be buried. Someone will always take my place. For the glory of Zeon! Heero Yuy vs. Psycho Gundam Mk III Heero Yuy: .... Is that another enemy? Valdor: Well, you've certainly got a good sense of timing. You're the soldier that took down Zechs Marquise. That makes you a worthy opponent for me. Heero Yuy: Who are you!! Valdor: I am Valdor Farkill. And once I defeat you, the pilot of Gundam, I will be even more respected than Treize Khushrenada. Now let me prove to you that I am the strongest warrior alive!!! After Victory Heero Yuy: You're such a fool. Treize Khushrenada is already dead. Valdor: Treize is dead? No, it is you who is dead, you fool! Heero Yuy: What did you say? Valdor: You defeated Treize and me? ... Heero Yuy: Ah, just forget about it. Heero Yuy vs. Hydra Gundam Heero Yuy: Mobile Suit approaching at high speed. Is this a Gundam type? But this Mobile Suit is... Treize: I'm about to make history and take the stage once again. I will do what must be done. Heero Yuy: What's your plan? Treize: To put an end to this once and for all. Heero Yuy: Are you going to start another war? Treize: Even after enduring their wretched history of war, human kind never tried to get back on it's feet. At this rate, the earth will become filled with worthless people. If it's to change the course of history, I am willing to become the notorious bad guy. Heero Yuy: Is that your just cause, Treize Khushrenada? If so, I won't accept it, Treize, be prepared to lose. Treize: Yes, this world is only for soldiers. Therefore, talk is cheap. Let the battle determine our destinies. After Victory Treize: You're a true warrior, Heero Yuy. I may have lost my Mobile Suit, but I'm still alive. So what are you going to do, Heero Yuy! If your intention is to end it here, go ahead, shoot me. If not, i'll be seeing you... (Treize now runs away like the chicken he is.) Heero Yuy: Treize, you son of a... Wait till we meat again. Then the word "FIN" is displayed on the screen and it tells you how fast you completed the game. ===================================Section 4=================================== Full Script From Versus Mode If Ball Wins Shiro: I will not fight for the Earth Federation's cause. However, I will always fight for my comrades. If Gundam Wins Amuro: I'm sorry, better luck next time. If Psycho Gundam MkIII Wins Valdor: There is no such thing as a meaningless battle. The mean is a fool. If Byg Zam Wins Dozle: Did you see that? When the Big Zam is in mass production, we will beat the Earth Federation instantly. If Zeong Wins Char: Mankind is meant to follow its destiny. Thus I'll kill you! If Sazabi Wins Char: Humanity should be judged and atone for their sins against Nature and the Earth. If Acguy Wins Akahana: What? No big deal! If Hy-Gogg Wins Mikhail: Ha ha ha! Serves you right! If GP02A Wins Gato: He has great potential, but he's still just a beginner. If Neue Ziel Wins Gato: You wouldn't had suffered if you had chosen the right side. If Hydra Gundam Wins Treize: This is a soldier's world, so what are you still doing here? You cannot defend against any attacks while jumping. When the Thruster Guage is flashing, this cannot be used. In this mode, you cannot defend yourself. Defending: Press the direction button in opposite direction of Enemy Mobile Suit. You can defend yourself while standing or crouching. You cannot defend yourself from certain ground attacks while standing. Also, you cannot defend yourself from aerial attacks while crouching. There are certain attacks that cannot be defended against. Dodge or Shield: Press two or more of any attack buttons simultaneously. You can defend yourself against all attacks by using a dodge move, a jump attack, or a bubble shield. (These reduce your armor guage slightly.) Whether you can use a dodge or shield move depends on your type of Mobile Suit. You cannot use these when your armor guage is "0." If you press the directional button Up during a dodge, it will become an aerial dodge. Stun Attack: Get close to an enemy and press Towards + Triangle. Use a stun attack to keep your enemy stunned momentarily. (This is a good tactic to use if you want to start a combo.) This is effective even against enemies on the defensive. Mega Special Attack: Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch. Available on all Mobile Suits except RB-79 Ball, RX-78 Gundam, and RX-93 U Gundam. ===================================Section 6=================================== Move Sets Besides the info I have supplied, I have put in excerpts from the Tips & Tricks Jan. 2001 issue for a strategy from the REAL experts. ====================Move Set NOTE==================== Certain moves will say circle instead of punch. On those particular moves, you have to press circle. While on the ones that say punch, you can press either strong punch or weak punch. All of the following button directions assume the Mech is facing to the right. And about the combos, these are just simple punch and kick combos. Experiment, and for some characters at the end of a combo can throw in a beam rifle ect. for extra hits. ===================================================== XXXG-01W Wing Gundam Series: Gundam Wing Evade Type: Dodge ===============Info on the Pilot=============== Real Name: Unknown Alias: Heero Yuy Age: 15 Height: 156 cm Weight: 45 kg Eye Color: Prussian Blue Hair Color: Dark Brown This talented pilot of the Wing Zero is the most grim of the pilots. Although his real name is unknown, he goes by the alias Heero Yuy, the assassinated pacifist leader of the colonies. Raised and trained to be a killing machine by the scientist Doctor J, equally proficient in mobile suit piloting, personal combat, damolitions and computer hacking. Though Heero's upbringing hasn't quite managed to squeeze all the compassion out of him, he is nonetheless callous towards his allies, and cold-blooded towards his enemies, and almost suicidally careless of his own life. His unexpected reluctance to kill Relena Peacecraft, after she discovers his identity, is the first step in Heero's gradual reclamation of his own humanity. ===============Info=============== Piloted by a boy, code-named Heero Yuy, the Wing Gundam is meant for use on Earth. It can transform into a winged "Bird Mode," allowing it to survive re-entry and fly in Earth's atmosphere. It also has a very powerful buster rifle. It appears in Gundam Wing. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Wing Gundam is an all around good choice. It's got a solid projectile, if a bit slow, a fairly quick Beam Saber and a couple of surprise moves that can close the distance on the opponent and get over their projectiles. Use the Hyper Dash to close the gap between you and the opponent quickly. This is useful if you see a Beam Saber attack coming out-jet inside and hit them with a quick punch ir kick to shut it down. If you see a projectile attack coming, use the Rise Down Kick to get above it and come down on the opponent to set up a combo. The only sticking point with Wing Gundam is it's Mega Special Attack. The Wave Ride Mega Special Attack requires that you be right next to the opponent; it'll fizzle otherwise. Also, if it's blocked, it won't do much damage since the Mobile Suit boosts upward. ===============Move Set=============== Hyper Punch (Aerial Technique): Up + Triangle Spin Kick (Aerial Technique): Circle Beam Rifle: Down, Towards + Square Beam Rifle x3: Down, Towards + Triangle Hyper Dash (Ground Technique): Down, Towards + Kick Rise Down Kick: Down, Back + Kick Beam Saber (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Wave Rider Attack (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + Triangle Square + X + Circle Square + X + Triangle Triangle + Circle MS-06F Zaku II Series: Mobile Suit Gundam Evade Type: Dodge ===============Info=============== Piloted by Denim of the Duchy of Zeon, the Zaku II first appears in the original "Mobile Suit Gundam." The Zaku II was the first military Mobile Suit and it is the backbone of Zeon's Mobile Suit forces. It can be used both in space and on Earth. Various additional models were based on this Mobile Suit. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Zaku II is a small Mobile Suit and is one of the fastest in the game. Zaku's machine gun is great for playing an early keep-away game, firing out streams of very fast bullets. The Heat Hawk melee weapon has shorter range compared to the other; it's best not to bother with it unless you have a clear opening. To aid in playing keep-away, Zaku can hit jump-ins with either the Rising Tackle or the Cracker Grenade. Like all rushing attacks, the Shoulder Tackle works great against opponents winding up for a melee weapon strike. Finally, Zaku's Mega Special is best used against jumping opponents, as it will hit and continue to juggle the target in mid-air. On the ground, opponents can block after the first hit. ===============Move Set=============== Shoulder Tackle (Ground Technique): Towards + Circle Stomping (Aerial Technique): Down + Square Zaku Machine Gun: Down, Towards + Triangle Zaku Machine Gun x10: Down, Towards + Triangle Cracker: Down, Back + Punch Rising Tackle: Down, Towards + Kick Heat Hawk (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Cracker Special (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + X Square + Triangle Triangle + Circle MSN-02 Zeong Series: Mobile Suit Gundam Evade Type: Shield ===============Info on the Pilot=============== Real Name: Char Aznable Alias: Casval Rem Deikun, Edward Mass, Red Comet, and Quattro Bajina Age: 20 (in Mobile Suit Gundam), 27 (in Z Gundam), and 33 (in Char's Counterattack) Height: 175 cm Weight: Unknown Eye Color: black Hair Color: Gold In the original Gundam series Char is Zeon's most famous ace pilot, nicknamed the "Red Comet" after his mobile suit's color scheme. In the Loum Campaign at the start of the One Year War, Char sank five Federation battleships singlehandedly, spurring speculation that he might be a newtype of the kind predicted by Zeon Deikun. Once he encounters the Gundam he begins a fierce rivalry with Amuro, which escalates after Amuro inadvertently kills Char's newtype protege Lalah Sune. In addition to his color preference, Char is a man of many eccentricities. He is seldom seen without his face-obscuring helmet, which serves to conceal his secret identity from his fellow Zeon soldiers. He refuses to wear a pilot suit in battle. And, as far as we can tell from the animation, he is unable to drive a car. It's ultimately revealed that Char is the son of Zeon Deikun, spirited out of Side 3 ten years ago and brought up to carry out a mission of vengeance against the Zabi family which supposedly assassinated his father. Having infiltrated the Principality of Zeon's military in order to get close to his targets, Char doesn't let such trivia as his longstanding friendship with Garma Zabi get in the way of his quest, but his growing rivalry with Amuro proves to be a major distraction. ===============Info=============== Piloted by Char Aznable of the Duchy of Zeon, the Zeong is the last and biggest Mobile Suit created by the Duchy of Zeon. Designed for use by NewType pilots, the Zeong can seperate into several remote-controlled units that attack independently. It appears in the original "Mobile Suit Gundam." ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== While it may not look like much, Zeong is one of the best Mobile Suits in the game. It's arms seperate at the elbows and extend during punches, giving Zeong long reach for regular attacks. Use the Vertical Punch to take down opponents who try to get above you-and use the Punch Rush when close for an easy three-hit combo, which can be linked into a Mega Special Attack for added damage. Zeong's Mega Special is one of the best in the game; it htis nearly everywhere on the screen and even does good damage when blocked. ===============Move Set=============== Vertical Punch (Ground Technique): Back + Triangle Sweep Punch (Aerial Technique): Down + Triangle Down Burner (Aerial Technique): Down + X Double Down Burner (Aerial Technique): Down + Circle Hand Beam: Down, Towards + Square Hand Beam x12: Down, Towards + Triangle Punch Rush: Down, Back + Punch Hand Blade (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Psycho Mu Attack (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + X + Triangle MSN-04 Sazabi Series: Char's Counter Attack Evade Type: Dodge ===============Info on the Pilot=============== Real Name: Char Aznable Alias: Casval Rem Deikun, Edward Mass, Red Comet, and Quattro Bajina Age: 20 (in Mobile Suit Gundam), 27 (in Z Gundam), and 33 (in Char's Counterattack) Height: 175 cm Weight: Unknown Eye Color: black Hair Color: Gold In the original Gundam series Char is Zeon's most famous ace pilot, nicknamed the "Red Comet" after his mobile suit's color scheme. Having infiltrated the Principality of Zeon's military in order to get close to his targets, Char doesn't let such trivia as his longstanding friendship with Garma Zabi get in the way of his quest, but his growing rivalry with Amuro proves to be a major distraction. ===============Info=============== This is piloted by Char Aznable, just as when he was leading Neo Zeon in "Char's Counterattack." The Sazabi, although huge and heavily armored, is still fast and highly maneuverable. It is designed for use by NewType pilots and can attack with six small remote-controlled weapons caled "Funnels." ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== If you want to play with brute force but still have some speed, Sazabi is the way to go. Use the Hover Slide Kick to get in close, then break out a Spin Kick. At a distance, break out the Funnels and move in for a combo while they're firing on the opponent. The Beam Shot Flush Mega Special is long-range, but it travels in a fairly straight line, so make sure your opponent isn't in a position to thrust up and avoid the attack. This is an excellent move to pull off after knocking the enemy down. Sazabi also has one of the best melee attacks in the game: the Beam Axe hits twice and comes out fairly quickly compared to the others. ===============Move Set=============== Hover Slide Kick (Ground Technique): Down + Circle Beam Shot Rifle: Down, Towards + Square Beam Shot Rifle x5: DOwn, Towards + Triangle Spin Kick: Down, Back + Kick Beam Axe (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch Funnel Shot: Back, Down, Towards + Punch Funnel Attack: Down, Towards + Punch ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Beam Shot Flush: Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + X NZ-000 Quin Mantha Series: Gundam ZZ Evade Type: Shield ===============Info on the Pilot=============== Real Name: Unknown Alias: Ple Two Age: 10? It is also protected by a defensive Bubble Shield. The Quin Mantha appeared in Gundam ZZ. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== A towering, slow Mobile Suit, Q-Mantha is a power player with a well-balanced assortment of attacks for both close- and long-range combat. It uses the small hovering beam weapons called Funnels, which can be a great asset for confusing opponents and diverting their attention from your Mobile Suit. Launch the Funnels, have them attack and then thrust upwards and come down with a Body Press to catch them off-guard. Be sure that your opponent is below you when pulling off this attack, though; miss and it leaves Q-Mantha wide open for a pounding. Take advantage of the Beam Shower- it's a top-down projectile attack that doesn't cost ammo! The Wave Ride Mega Special hits from across the screen, but smaller enemies like Hygog and Acguy can get underneath it and avoid the damage. ===============Move Set=============== Double Elbow (Ground Technique): Towards + Triangle Tackle (Ground Technique): Towards + Circle Body Press (Aerial Technique): Down + Triangle Heel Kick (Aerial Technique): Down + X Beam Launcher: Down, Towards + Square Double Beam launcher: Down, Towards + Triangle Beam Shower (aerial Technique): Down, Back + Triangle Hyper Beam Shovel (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch Funnel Shot: Back, Down, Towards + Punch Funnel Attack: Down, Towards + Punch ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Wave Rider Attack: Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + Triangle FA-010S ZZ Gundam Series: Gundam ZZ Evade Type: Shield ===============Info on the Pilot=============== Real Name: Judau Ashta Age: 14 Height: 165 cm Weight: 56 kg No further information available...... ===============Info=============== Piloted by Judau Ashta, a member of the resistence group AEUG (Anti-Earth United-Nation Government), this Mobile Suit appears in Gundam ZZ. Like the original RX-78 Gundam, it can seperate into three components and can also transform into a single large fighter. It's armed with an arsenal of powerful beam weapons. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== If you like to play keep-away, ZZ Gundam is your Mobile Suit! Although it's incredibly cheap, the Mega Particle Cannon is a Cyclops-like energy beam that fires across the screen instantly... and doesn't use weapon ammo! Simple press Circle as often as you want to keep your opponent either blocking on the ground or in the air trying to avoid your shots. If they take to the air, you can toss out Spray Missiles, another unlimited projectile that fires nine small tracking missiles. Finally, the Hyper Mega Particle Cannon is a continuous stream of tracking energy that can hit from anywhere on the screen. To balance this seemingly overbearing arsenal of long-range weaponry, ZZ Gundam is very slow and doesn't combo well at all. It's only useful close attack is the Knee Lift Shot, which automatically tacks on a few Double Beam Rifle hits if it connects. ===============Move Set=============== Guard Punch (Ground Technique): Back + Triangle Mega Particle Cannon (Aerial Technique): Circle Double Beam Rifle: Down, Towards + Square Double Beam Rifle x6: Down, Towards + Triangle Knee Lift Shot (Ground Technique): Down, Towards + Kick Spray Missile (Ground Technique): Down, Back + Punch Mega Beam Saber (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Hyper Mega Particle Cannon (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + Circle Square + Triangle + Circle X + Triangle (Let the Suit kick 2 times before pressing Triangle) Square + X MSM-03C Hygog Series: Gundam 0080 Evade Type: Dodge ===============Info=============== This is piloted by Mikhail Kaminsky of the Duchy of Zeon, the second most senior member of the Cyclops Team from "Gundam 0080." This Mobile Suit is an improved version of the MS-03 Gog, with beam cannons installed on the ends of its long flexible arms. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Hy-Gogg is a well-rounded character. It's fast and can play a solid game both in close and at a distance. Its Machine Gun attack is similar to Zaku's, firing rapid bursts that can keep opponents at bay. The Homing Missiles pack serious punch, especially if all three connect. Use Hy-Gogg's quickness to get in close and combo like crazy. The Mega Special Attack works great as a finisher to a combo string, since you'll need to be in close for the "hundred hand slap"-like move to connect. ===============Move Set=============== Tackle (Ground Technique): Towards + Circle Down Kick (Aerial Technique): Circle Shoot Down Kick (Aerial Technique): Down + Circle Machine Gun: Down, Towards + Square Machine Gun x8: Down, Towards + Triangle Homing Missile: Down, Back + Punch Jumping Tackle: Down, Towards + Kick Hard Burner (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Hell Burner Rush (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + Triangle Square + X Square + Circle PMX-003 The-O Series: Z Gundam Evade Type: Shield ===============Info on the Pilot=============== Real Name: Paptimus Scirocco Alias: The Man from Jupiter Height: 180 cm Weight: Unknown Hair Color: Black No further information available...... ===============Info=============== This is piloted by Paptimus Scirocco, a captain of the Jupiter Energy Fleet, who joins the Titans in "Z Gundam." The-O is equipped with a bio-sensor, an experimental control system that can only be used by NewType pilots. Beware of it's hidden hands. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== The-O is a large Mobile Suit, and is very slow. It's Hidden Arm attacks come out very quickly, though, and are excellent rush stoppers. The Hidden Burner Assault is also a very fast move that hits multiple times and is hard to see coming. The-O's Beam Rifle is of the slower variety, as is it's melee attack. The Mega Special, though, can be devastating; after initiating the Beam Saber Dance, you can control the Mobile Suit-and for a few seconds, your strong punch attacks with a quick Beam Saber swing, allowing multiple high damage hits. ===============Move Set=============== Hidden Arm (Ground Technique): Towards + Square Rifle Slap (Ground Technique): Towards + Triangle Anti-Air Hidden Arm (Ground Technique): Back + Triangle Sweep Hidden Arm (Aerial Technique): Down + Square Beam Rifle: Down, Towards + Square Beam Rifle x5: Down, Towards + Triangle SW Sword Rush: Down, Back + Punch Slap Tackle: Down, Towards + Kick Beam Sword (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back: Punch ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Beam Sword Dance (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch + Any Attack ===============Combos=============== Square + Triangle RX-78GP02A GP-02A ("Physallis") Series: Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories Evade Type: Dodge ===============Info on the Pilot=============== Real Name: Anavel Gato Alias: The Nightmare of Solomon Age: 25 Height: Unknown Weight: Unknown One of the greatest ace pilots of the One Year War, Gato was a member of Dozle Zabi's Space Attack Force, stationed at the asteroid fortress Solomon. Here, his lethal sorties against the Earth Federal Forces earned him the nickname "Nightmare of Solomon." When Aiguille Delaz withdrew from the Battle of A Baoa Qu at the end of the war, he persuaded Gato to accompany him rather than throwing his life away in a hopeless fight. It appears that Gato spent some time on the moon after the end of the war, only rejoining Delaz's renegade forces in September, UC 0081. Since then, he has become Delaz's right-hand man and most loyal follower. In addition to his superb combat skills and superhuman stamina, Gato is a charismatic leader, a gallant warrior, and a general paragon of moral virtue. ===============Info=============== The Gundam GP02A is piloted by Lt. Commander Anavel Gato of the Delaz Fleet and appears in "Gundam 0083." This Mobile Suit was developed to use strategic nuclear weapons. It is armed with an atomic bazooka and protected by heavy armor andpowerful cooling systems. It was stolen by renegade Zeon soldiers from an Earth Federation base in Australia, where it was to undergo testing in Earth's gravity. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== GP-02A isn't a combo machine, but it has the power and defensive ability to sit back and lob bazooka shells from two different directions. The Shield Tackle is pretty slow, but it's a great move to use after knocking the opponent down to tack on extra hits. Stop jump-ins with the Shield Buster and keep them confused by launching a Shot Bazooka followed immediately by the Hyper Bazooka. The Atomic Bazooka creates a giant fireball in the middle of the screen...but it won't hit most standing Mobile Suits, even if they're right underneath it. Unless you catch the opponent jumping, you'll have to hit them with a low kick or punch the pops them up and into the fireball. Once caught by it, they'll be sucked towards the middle and take multiple hits. ===============Move Set=============== Shield Smash (Ground Technique): Towards + Triangle Shield Tackle (Ground Technique): Down + X Hyper Bazooka: Down, Towards + Square Double Hyper Bazooka: Down, Towards + Triangle Shot Bazooka (Ground Technique): Down, Back + Punch Shield Buster (Ground Technique): Down, Towards + Kick Beam Saber (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch ===============Move Set=============== Atomic Bazooka (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + Triangle Square + Circle X + Circle MSM-04 Acguy Series: Mobile Suit Gundam Evade Type: Dodge ===============Info=============== Piloted by Akahana of the Duchy of Zeon, the Acguy is powered by a pair of Zaku reactors, giving it a relatively low power exhaust output compared to other Mobile Suits. This makes the Acguy hard to detect with infared sensors, so it is ideally suited for infiltration and reconnaissance missions. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Although Agguy is smalle and silly-looking, it's a monster-combo MS-stomping mayhem machine! Especially against bigger Mobile Suits. Try thrusting up to the top of a big opponent like Neue Ziel or The-O and then busting out a crazy 10-hit combo as you fall back to the ground. Agguy can effortlessly link the Machine Gun and Jump Upper attacks into it's combos, and it's Mega Special Attack is a great combo finisher. The other advantage to using Agguy is that the slight size makes hitting it hard; Agguy can avoid attacks that the bigger, slower Mobile Suits can't. ===============Move Set=============== Acguy Machine Gun: Down, Towards + Square Acguy Machine Gun x8: Down Towards + Triangle Acguy Jump Upper (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Towards + Punch Acguy Claw Rush (Ground Technique): Down, Back + Punch Acguy Drill Claw (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch ===============Mega Special Attack================ Acguy Rolling Maximum (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + Triangle + Circle Square + X + Circle Square + X + Triangle Square + Circle X + Triangle + Circle AMX-004 Qubeley Series: Z Gundam Evade Type: Dodge ===============Info on the Pilot=============== Real Name: Haman Khan Alias: None Age: 20 (in Z Gundam), 21 (in ZZ Gundam), and 16 (in 0083) Height: 168 cm Weight: Unknown Haman is the scheming regent of Zeon heir Mineva Zabi, and the true leader of the Axis Zeons. Despite her youth and unimposing stature, this young woman is a cunning schemer and a phenomenally powerful newtype. For all her talent and ambition, Haman has one secret vulnerability - her unrequited love for renegade Axis agent Char Aznable. ===============Info=============== Piloted by Haman Karn, leader of the renegade Zeon's Base at the astroid Axis, the Qubeley appears in "Z Gundam" and "Gundam ZZ." The Qubeley is the first regular-sized Mobile Suit to have a Psycommu system, a device which lets NewType pilots like Haman use remote-controlled weapons. It's equipped with a dozen remote beam guns called "Funnels," which it can use to attack an enemy from all directions. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Playing as Qubelay is lots of fun because it's fast and has some hugely effective technique. This is a purely offensive Mobile Suit; it's variety of kick-based Specials let you take the fight to the enemy in style. Use the Homing Kick to jet across the screen and get right in his face (note that shorter opponents won't be affected by this attack unless they're in the air). Both the Somersault and the Double Kick are excellent against jumping attackers, and the Funnels are always a good ofensive tactic-send them out to attack while you move in with a combo at the same time. The Full Funnel Attack will home in on the opponent, meaning that if they don't block, it's going to hit them no matter where they are on the screen. ===============Move Set=============== Beam Gun: Down, Towards + Square Beam Gun x4: Down, Towards + Triangle Double Kick (Ground Technique): Down, Towards + Kick Somersault (Aerial Technique): Down, Towards + Kick Homing Kick: Down, Back + Kick Beam Saber (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch Funnel Shot: Back, Down, Towards + Punch Funnel Attack: Down, Towards + Punch ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Full Funnel Attack (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combo=============== NONE MSZ-006 Z Gundam Series: Z Gundam Evade Type: Dodge ===============Info=============== Piloted by Kamiru Bidan of the resistance group AEUG (Anti-Earth United-Nation Government) in "Z Gundam," the Z Gundam can transform into a "Wave Rider" mode, allowing it to re-enter the atmosphere. This Mobile Suit was improved greatly by installing biosensors in the control system. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Z Gundam is identical to Wing Gundam in terms of speed, power and attacks. This means that it's a well-balanced Mobile Suit with a couple of nice attacks; use the Rise Down Kick to get over projectiles and hit the opponent (you can even use this move repeatedly against the really tall boss characters to repeatedly kick them in midair). The Mega Special Wave Ride requires that you be right next to your opponent for it to connect; try to use the stun attack before pulling this move out. ===============Move Set=============== High Punch (Aerial Technique): Up + Triangle Spin Kick (Aerial Technique): Circle Beam Rifle: Down, Towards + Square Beam Rifle x3: Down, Towards + Triangle Hyper Dash (Ground Technique): Down, Towards + Kick Rise Down Kick: Down, Back + Kick Hand Blade (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Wave Rider Attack (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + X + Triangle Triangle + Circle Square + Triangle + Circle MRX-011 Psycho MK III Series: This game is the Suits first appearance. Evade Type: None To Unlock: Beat the game on Hard difficulty with any character. ===============Info=============== The Psycho Gundam Mk III is an original Mobile Suit created by the game's designers. Its design seems to be based on the previous two models (Psycho Gundam & Psycho Gundam Mk II). Therefore, they share the same characteristics. The Psycho Gundam Mk III is a huge Mobile Suit that is over 40 meters tall, and they all have lots of firepower. The Mk III even has the Scattering Mega Particle Cannon, just like the other two. The Psycho Gundam Mk III is one of the most powerful and unfair character's in the whole game. It can practically walk right through any attack, and its defense is extremely high! Furthermore, it can even guard in the middle of getting hit by Specials, Mega-Specials, or combos! All its moves are very powerful. For example, its Psycho Blast Upper can kill an opponent immediately if all 4 hits connect! Also, the reach for its Beam Sword is unbelievable! Overall, it's a really cheap boss. Even its slow speed cannot keep it from being overly powerful. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Psycho Mk-III is perhaps the toughest boss in the game. For starters, it's huge, and can hit with most of it's regular attacks from across the screen. Secondly, almost all of it's attacks to monster damage. There are a couple in particular you'll want to be very careful about. It's Beam Saber attack has a very long range, but is swung underhanded, so thrusting up is a good way to avoid being cleaved for huge damage. Also, be careful when taking the fight in close on the ground. Psycho has a devastating double-hit knee attack that'll shave more than half of an Armor Guage away! Turtle up against him and attack when he leaves an opening after a missed move. I also wouldn't recommend using this Mobile Suit against friends in Versus Mode...unless you don't want them as friends any longer. As commander of Zeon's Space Attack Force, Dozle spends most of his time at the asteroid fortress Solomon launching attacks against the battered remnants of the Federation's space fleet. With a fierce lust for battle, Dozle often contrives to place himself on the front lines, and it's said that he has a habit of turning field inspections into impromptu sorties. Though terrifying to behold and merciless to his foes, Dozle is a devoted family man, firing Char for his failure to protect adored younger brother Garma. Dozle also takes good care of his own family, sending his wife Zenna and infant daughter Mineva to safety as the Federal Forces begin their assault on Solomon. The one family member he doesn't get along with is sister Kycilia, and it's this feud that proves his undoing when he refuses to accept her help in defending Solomon. ===============Info=============== This huge Mobile Armor has been specifically designed and personalized for the combat prone generals in the Zabi Family. The main Zabi's this was created for is Dozle and Garma Zabi. This Big Zam particularly resembles Dozle's customized Zaku II. The first of the Bosses is this massive Mobile Armor. Its defense is extremely high, and its movements cannot be hindered no matter how much you attack it. However, it is extremely slow, and cannot fly too high with its thrusters. Its one and only Special Move is its Homing Missiles. The Big Zam will fire many small missiles (that will home in on you) at the expense of very little Energy, and this alone causes a lot of damage, even when blocked. It does not have any actual punches, so the P buttons are used for flying its multi-directional lasers. Its Mega-Special Attack is a huge beam attack that sweeps across the whole screen for major damage. Note that the Big Zam cannot guard, and there seems to be no way for it to turn around once someone gets behind it. On an interesting note, the Big Zam can also inflict damage on its opponents by simply walking at them, and smashing them with its huge feet. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Although Byg-Zam's inability to block and extreme lack of speed may seem like handicaps, the fact is-like the other bosses-this is one of the most powerful characters in the game. It's got free projectiles that come out by simply hitting the punch buttons, and it can damage it's opponents simply by touching them while walking. It also has Homing Missiles, which use very little ammo to fire, and one of the nastier Mega Specials in the game (it shares the Mega Particle Cannon with Z Gundam and Neue Ziel). When fighting against Byg-Zam, try to stay as far away as possible. Hammer it with projectiles and Mega Specials from a distance, if possible. If you must get in close to trade blows, get behind it and then block it's mule kick attack, quickly hit it with a strong punch or kick, then repeat until it's defeated. ===============Move Set=============== Homing Missile: Down, Towards + Punch Knee Press (Ground Technique): Down + Square Rush (Ground Technique): Down + Circle Full Body Press (Aerial Technique): Circle Jumping Knee (Ground Technique): Down + Triangle ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Mega Particle Cannon (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== NONE AMA-X2 Neue Ziel Series: Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories Evade Type: None To Unlock: Beat the game on Normal difficult with any character. ===============Info=============== During Operation Stardust Anavel Gato uses the very deadly and powerful Mobile Armor Neue Ziel. This Mobile Armor is designed to be used by a NewType pilot, hence a NewType would only have the required reflexes and abilities to fully control and manipulate the Neue Ziel to its full potential. The Neue Ziel is Anavel Gato's Mobile Armor, which he later acquires after the GP02A gets destroyed. It is huge, and has long arms, which can be launched far because they are connected to its elbows by wires. (Press P) Also, since it is a Mobile Armor for use in space, you will notice that its Thruster Gauge is full and never depletes. Hence, it is always flying. It has a wide range of Special Moves, which makes it one of the most interesting bosses to play as. Note that the Neue Ziel can turn around should its opponent get behind it. Simply move towards the edge of the screen then perform the Heavy Tackle. The Neue Ziel will fly off-screen, then back again, this time facing in the correct direction. All its moves are damaging, and surprisingly, it even has a Beam Saber. Its Mega-Special Attack is very devastating. The Neue Ziel will fire a massive beam that sweeps across the screen twice for up to over 40 hits! ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Like Byg-Zam, Neue-Ziel cannot block...but that's really not too much of a setback when playing as this behemoth. Neue Ziel is perpetually in flight and has an unlimited Thrust Meter. This gives you the high ground advantage, forcing the opponent to come to you if you hang out at the top of the screen. Use Homing Missiles to annoy enemies, and nail them with a Rushing Tackle if they get too close (note that the Rushing Tackle can also be used to Neue Ziel change direction if the opponent gets behind you-go to the other corner and use the move to reverse your facing). This is the largest Mobile Suit in the game, but not that difficult to defeat. Because it can hit you with a variety of range attacks from above, playing an offensive game against Neue Ziel is often met with crushing defeat. Play defensive and block an attack, the counterattack. If you are across the screen and are playing an MS with a long range Mega Special Attack, exploit that to get some easy hits. Neue Ziel uses the same Mega Special Attack as ZZ Gundam and Byg-Zam, so be careful and try to avoid taking the block damage by boosting over the beam if you see it coming. ===============Move Set=============== Hand Laser: Down, Towards + Square Hand Laser x6: Down, Towards + Triangle Beam Saber (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch Homing Missiles: Down, Towards + Punch Rushing Tackle (Ground Technique): Down, Towards + Circle ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Mega Particle Cannon: Towards, Down, Towards, Down + Punch ===============Combos=============== NONE OZ-15AGX Hydra Gundam Series: Gundam Wing G-Unit Evade Type: Dodge To Unlock: Beat the game on hard with any character without continuing. ===============Info=============== The Hydra Gundam is Valdor Farkill's Mobile Suit from the G-Unit comics. Although I have never read it before, I have seen them and I know that it takes place some time in the year After Colony 195 on the colony MO-V (Five). It is also a time when most Mobile Suits have the ability to transform into different kinds of Mobile Armor. The Hydra Gundam is one of the cheapest, fastest, and most powerful characters in the game. First of all, it comes equipped with an EMF Shield. Just by guarding normally, the Hydra Gundam will defend itself with the EMF Shield, which will protects against all attacks, including beam & missile projectiles, which will have no effect on it (works just like a Barrier!). Furthermore, the Hydra Gundam has the ability to Sway, so this makes it a very defensive character, since it is invulnerable to projectile attacks when guarding, can also sway to avoid the unblockable saber attacks. The Buster Cannon is also very unfair. It is very quick, and uses Energy at a rate of 5 points per shot only! The Shoulder Claw Beam Cannon is overly powerful, as it does nearly as much damage as that of any character's Mega-Special Attack. Also, it is accurate at finding its target. The Hydra-G's Beam Saber is also very unfair. It takes a very short time to pull off, and the Saber will be swung twice for plenty of damage! Lastly, the Hydra-G's Mega-Special Attack looks straight out of those SNK fighting games. It performs a rush combo, ending with an unblockable double saber slash. So, should you manage to guard against this move, be sure to sway to avoid the last few hits. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Hydra's another cheap Mobile Suit, but at least it takes some skill to play. The biggest advantage this character has is it's shield. Regular blocking will deflect any energy projectile attack just like a Shield Evade move, causing no damage to Hydra Gundam. Combine it with the Dodge ability and you have a character that can avoid any attack thrown it's way! It also has a free projectile in the Double Beam Cannon and is very fast and combo-matic. However, when facing Hydra in Story Mode, it's almost anti-climatic after the intense battle with Psycho Gundam. It's not nearly as well armored as Psycho, which means your attack will do more damage. And although Hydra is very quick, it leaves itself open to a lot of regular attacks, and doesn't seem to make use of its special shield to block projectiles as often as it should. ===============Move Set=============== Buster Rifle: Down, Towards + Square Buster Rifle x6: Down, Towards + Triangle Beam Saber Double Slash (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch Shoulder Claw Beam Cannon: Down, Back + Punch Double Sweep Kick (Ground Technique): Down + Circle Flip Kick (Ground Technique): Down, Towards + Circle Drop Kick (Aerial Technique): Triangle ===============Mega Special Attack=============== Beam Saber Rush (Ground Technique): Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch ===============Combos=============== Square + Triangle + Circle Square + X + Circle Square + Circle RX-78 Gundam Series: Mobile Suit Gundam Evade Type: Dodge To Unlock: Beat the game using Z Gundam on any difficulty. Here, Tem concentrated on his military research, leaving Amuro's neighbor Fraw Bow to look after the boy and make sure he remembered to eat his breakfast. Amuro's knack for gadgetry is demonstrated by his hand-made toy robot, the notorious Haro. Once fate places Amuro in the cockpit of the prototype Gundam, his life and personality begin to change dramatically. Though Amuro is fiercely possessive of the Gundam, which he regards as his personal property, he begins to form genuine friendships and develop a sense of duty and compassion. He also begins to manifest his latent newtype abilities, which not only make him a ferocious combatant but also lead him into a doomed rapport with enemy pilot Lalah Sune. Longtime Amuro watchers will note that he has two special talents in addition to being a newtype killing machine: A knack for electronics, and a penchant for leaping out of moving vehicles. ===============Info=============== The RX-78 Gundam was produced at Jaburo on the Side 7 research colony. The Gundam is only one of eight originally built prototypes. It was designed to be a top of the line close combat Mobile Suit; it can be used in space and also on the Earth. The first Gundam of the whole Gundam series is hidden in the game. It appeared in the first Gundam: The Battle Master game, but was taken out, probably to be replaced by the Z-Gundam. However, it makes a comeback here in the sequel, with all its old moves intact, but just a different way of performing them. Overall, it is quite a weak fighter. Its Cyber Shield requires Energy to fire the rifle shots, so once you are out of ammo, this move becomes obsolete, and you will have to fight a close-range battle for the remaining of the fight. However, the Cyber Shield is a very damaging move, almost up to that of a typical Mega- Special Attack. Be tactful when you use it. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== The original Gundam makes an appearance in the game, but because of the lack of moves and Mega Special Attack, is relegated to the bottom tier with the other Mega Special Attack-deprived Mobile Suits. Still, Gundam is quick and has good combo ability. On an interesting note, Char himself supplied the U-Gundam's Psycho Frame. Was it his intention to arrange their final battle? Anyway, with this, the U-Gundam was able to use Funnels, just like the baddies. The U- Gundam's Fin Funnels look different from the conventional Funnels, and in the game, it works differently, too. Each Fin Funnel only fires one shot, instead of two, and they fire on the spot; that is, they do not chase after their target. However, it seems that the Fin Funnels are indestructible, as I have not seen them get destroyed before by anyone. The U-Gundam's other move, the Jumping Knee Tackle, can be followed up with certain attacks or combos after it connects. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Nu Gundam fares better than original Gundam, with more effective attacks. It's Funnels are more powerful than the other Funnels in the game, and they serve as effective combat tools as well as free projectiles-get close and hit Circle to unleash an automatic three-hit Funnel Attack. ===============Move Set=============== Beam Rifle: Down, Towards + Punch Beam Saber (Ground Technique): Towards, Down, Back + Punch Rising Knee: Down, Towards + Kick Fin Funnel Launch: Back, Down, Towards + Punch Fin Funnel Attack: Down, Towards + Punch (After launching above move) ===============Mega Special Attack=============== NONE ===============Combos=============== X + Square + Triangle + Circle X + Triangle + Circle X + Circle RB-79 BALL Series: Mobile Suit Gundam Evade Type: Dodge To Unlock: Beat the game with all 12 regular suits on any difficulty. ===============Info=============== With the lack of a sufficient number of RGM-79 GM Mobile Suits, the Earth Federation Space Force decided to configure civilian space pods into low grade Mobile Suit stand ins. Its 180mm Cannon is very powerful, but uses 100 points of Energy per shot! The Mining Drill is very quick, but does little damage. Good for ending the Ball's chain combos for many hits, though. The Rotating Cannon Attack is quite slow, and arcs at an angle, so you may miss your opponent sometime. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== You might feel somewhat cheated after playing though the game 12 times just to unlock this tiny robot. Although it's not a viable character at all, Ball does have a couple of strong points. One, its melee Jackhammer attack comes out very quickly and does a good chunk of damage. Two, its Beam Cannon does lots of damage, but runs dry quickly. Finally, like the other shorty in the game, Agguy, Ball is all about the crazy combos. Just about anything links with this little guy, and the Jackhammer is a great finisher to a long combo. ===============Move Set=============== Beam Cannon: Down, Towards + Punch Jackhammer: Down, Back + Punch Rising Chopper: Down, Back + Kick ===============Mega Special Attack=============== NONE ===============Combos=============== Square + Triangle + X + Circle Square + Circle + X + Triangle Square + Square + Square Triangle + Circle Square + X + Triangle MS-06S Zaku II-S (S-Class) Series: Mobile Suit Gundam Evade Type: To Unlock: (Code cracked on 11/29/00!!) In the Loum Campaign at the start of the One Year War, Char sank five Federation battleships singlehandedly, spurring speculation that he might be a newtype of the kind predicted by Zeon Deikun. ===============Info=============== The Zaku II-S is a limited edition model, its main attribute is high-performance. It was designed especially for company commanders. The Zaku II-S is also equipped with a communications antenna, and has a thruster output that is 30 percent faster than the standard Zaku II. The two most well known pilots who were assigned this rare Mobile Suit were Char Aznable and Anavel Gato. The Zaku II-S in this game is Char's and thus features his trademark red color, which sort of represents his nickname, the "Red Comet". (Anavel Gato's Zaku II-S is Blue/Green/Gray.) Basically, in the game Char's Zaku II-S is just a different colored Zaku II with a new head design. But since this is Char's customized Zaku II-S, it happens to be much more faster than the standard Zaku II, and is even quicker than almost every other character in the game. Char's Zaku II-S has all the same moves as that of the standard Zaku II, but because of its speed, it is a lot more deadly, and can perform many combos that the latter cannot. ===============What Tips & Tricks Says=============== Zaku II Custom is identical to the regular Zaku II Mobile Suit with a couple of key differences. The first is physical; the Custom MS is painted crimson in color and has the distinctive crest on its head, signifying a team leader. Secondly, this version of Zaku II boost at an incredibly fast speed, faster than any other MS in the game! Also, it is very good at combos, better even than Agguy! This is the best and most affective way to dodge an attack. I wouldn't normally try using it to get away from a melee attack (unless you catch it early) since when someone uses a melee attack, everyone except Psycho swings it over-the top. So if you use your Thrusters, you will fly right into it. I'd suggest using a regular block if a melee attack is coming. A Good Time To Pull off a Mega Special: The best time to pull off a Mega Special is after you knock the opponent down. As the opponent is getting up, press Down, Towards, Down, Towards + Punch quickly to execute. It will hit him and he'll be back on the ground, set up for another Mega Special! This is a great tactic to use if you are losing a battle and have all your Mega Specials. When and When Not To Use A Combo: The best time to use a combo is if you are beating an opponent, and don't mind if he gets a few licks in. You can attempt to pull one off early in the fight, but I'd suggest you get in a few hits so you have somewhat of an advantage. If you move in for a combo and fail to execute it fast enough, you will take a beating that you definitely don't want. I'd also suggest NOT trying to combo on a large Mobile Suit like Byg-Zam or Neue Ziel being that you have to thrust up towards his head/upper half to do some half way decent damage. Watch Your Ammo Guage: You should watch your ammo guage at all times. The last thing you want to do is run out of ammo. If you run out, your best back-to-the-wall come back weapon is gone. I'd suggest using your Beam Rifle (or whatever you have) when the opponent is about to use their melee attack or their Mega Special. I'd also suggest only firing your Beam Rifle (or whatever you have) while pressing Triangle to execute when you are losing a battle. The reason being it takes more ammo. I'd strongly suggest you not even use the Beam Rifle with Triangle if you are using Ball. His ammo guage runs dry quicker than anyone elses. ===================================Section 10=================================== Differences Between the Japanese and American versions We often see games undergo changes, from slight to significant, when they make the transition from Japan to the U.S. Gundam Battle Assault is no exception. There are some inexplainable changes, as well as some logical ones. Spelling For some reason Bandai changed some of the characters names. This is just another form of the useless "Americanization". Acguy became Agguy and Hygog became Hy-Gogg. Different Characters That's right, there are totally different characters in Gundam: The Battle Master 2. None of the characters from Gundam: The Battle Master 2 are actually in any of the Gundam series. In Battle Master 2, players take on the roll of a orange-haired, big-breasted female character and her sidekick. While in Battle Assault, players take on the roll of Heero Yuy, the main character from the show Gundam Wing. Different Mobile Suits In Battle Master 2, a Mobile Suit by the name of Hamma-Hamma was in the game. For some stupid reason, Bandai removed him COMPLETELY from Battle Assault (wouldn't it have been smart to make him a secret character?). This is yet another showing of "Americanization". The reason Hamma-Hamma was removed? The ever popular show Gundam Wing that aired on Cartoon Network. For that reason, Bandai removed Hamma-Hamma and replaced him with Wing Gundam (who by the way plays like a carbon copy of Z Gundam.) Announcer The only other difference that I noticed is that there is a different announcer than in Battle Master 2. I'm sure you all know who I'm talking about. The annoying one that says "Gundammmm Battle Assault" and (sounds more like "Wang Gundammm" than anything else) "Wing Gundammm." The guy that says all the other Mobile Suit names is the original announcer who does a very good job. ===================================Section 11=================================== Definitions Thrusters: By holding R1 and R2, the Mobile Suit can take to the air and fly for a short period of time. Use this to get out of the way of cannon fire and certain Mega Special Attacks. When thruster energy runs out, the Mobile Suit returns to the ground while the energy refills. Thruster Mode: This command puts the Mobile Suit into Thruster Mode, which allows it to fly and hover in place until its thruster energy runs out. Evade Mode: Every Mobile Suit (except for Byg-Zam, Neue Ziel and Psycho Gundam MkIII) has an evasion mode which cost a small amount of Armor but allows it to avoid damage. Mobile Suits with the Dodge function will sidestep out of harm's way and avoid any kind of attack for the short amount of time they are dodging. (Note: Press Up and two attack buttons to dodge and thrust upward at the same time). Shield-equipped Mobile Suits can create an energy barrier, which protects them from energy attacks, but not physical attacks. The shield last for several seconds and the Mobile Suit can move and attack normally while shielded. Stun Attack: This move is the Gundam equivalent of a throw in standard fighting games. It momentarily shorts out the opponent's computer systems and leaves them open for an attack. This is a great way to ensure that your Mega Special Attack will connect. Projectile Attack: Each Mobile Suit is equipped with a projectile weapon, usually a beam rifle. You can engage in long-range combat with this weapon for as long as there is ammor left to fire. Your projectile weapon will automatically aim at the opponent, meaning that you can fire from above (or below when your opponent is thrusting) and still hit with your weapon. Note that firing with weak punch will result in a short burst, while using strong punch triggers a longer burst. Melee Attack: Each Mobile Suits employs a close range energy weapon, generally a Beam Saber, for a powerful, unblockable attack. These attacks are slow and broadcast like mad, so use only when you see a solid opening or think your opponent doesn't expect it. Listen for the announcer to say "You can't defend" before a melee attack is performed for advance warning. Mega Special Attack: Each Mobile Suit has a different Mega Special Attack, which can be used three times during battle (indicated by the yellow bars under the thruster energy meter). These are the most powerful attacks in the game and can easily cause more than half of an Armor Guage when unblocked. They even cause a decent bit of damage when blocked. The Combo Theory: Fans of Capcom's Street Fighter Alpha series will find that combos in Battle Assault are remarkably similar to the chain combos from the original SFA. Starting with a weak punch or kick and working up to the strong attacks, you can chiain several attacks together in an unblockable combo as long as the first hit connects. For example, weak punch, weak kick, strong punch and strong kick will generally chain together. Some Mobile Suits are better at combos than others, so experiment with all of them to find the one best suited to your own play style. Note also that you can continue to pound on your opponent even while they are liad out on the ground! Take advantage of this fact to tack on a few free hits before they can get up. Gameplay Basics: Gundam Battle Assault breaks from the traditional "best of three round" formula used by most fighting games. Instead, each Mobile Suit begins the battle with three full Armor Guages stacked on top of each other. As damage is taken, the Armor Guage on top drains until it is empty, revealing the second Guage. When all of either competitor's Armor Guages are empty, the battle ends. Beneath the Armor Guage is the Thruster Energy Meter. This drains whenever thrusters are used and refills automatically when not in use. Below that meter are the Mega Special Attack bars and the projectile weapon ammo indicator. Using a Mega Special Attack removes one bar; when they are all gone, you won't be able to use this attack for the rest of the fight. Similarly, the weapon ammo indicator will be reduced to 0 as you fire your projectile weapon. When the ammor is depleted, you won't be able to engage in long-range combat for the remainder of the battle. ===================================Section 13=================================== Reviews In this section you will be able to read reviews on this fine game from some of the best gaming oriented companies around. If you have your own review of this game, send it to [email protected] and i'll post it. IGN PSX (http://psx.ign.com) Gundam Battle Assault 2D Gundam fighting and it ain't all that bad - Battle Master 2 beats the odds and comes to America. November 20, 2000 I'm not entirely sure why Bandai tried to release Gundam: Battle Assault under the radar the way it has, because the game is actually quite good as such things go. Gundam: The Battle Master wasn't exactly Street Fighter III, but it's got decent 2D fighter gameplay for an anime-licensed game, and Battle Assault, the new American version of that slightly aged import, features a well-done blend of Wing mechs for the kids and Universal Century for the folks with taste. Gundam: The Battle Master, if you missed it (which you probably did) was a 2D fighter with Gundam mechs, descended from the bizarrely amusing Gundam Wing: Endless Duel on the Super Famicon. It had simple, straightforward combat, cool special attacks, towering bosses, and remarkably good animation thanks to a simple graphical shortcut - the mechs were rendered in chunks with easy-to-manipulate individual polygons, rather than one big big sprite like a Street Fighter character that required the storage of many animation frames. Battle Master spawned a sequel, with new mechs, but the same formula, and now america gets Battle Assault, essentially the same game as Battle Master 2, to take advantage of Gundam Wing's popularity over here. Fanboy Stuff The mech selection is still heavily weight towards the UC, though, thankfully preventing me from doubling over with nausea during the game. Not counting unlockable mechs and bosses - the Big Zam, Neue Ziel, Hydra and Psycho Gundam, among others - the selectable crew (listed Mech-Pilot) is as follows: Wing Gundam: Weaksauce Bishonen Horsehead Zeong: Old-School Char Aznable (MS Gundam) Sazabi: New-School Char Aznable (Char's Counterattack) Quin-Mantha: Ple Two ZZ Gundam: Judau Ashta Hygog: Mikhail Kaminsky The-O: Paptimus Scirocco GP -02A: Anavel Mutha*&%$#! Gato Acguy: Akahana Quebeley: Haman Karn Z Gundam: Kamiru Bidan This is a fine selection of mechs, and it'd be downright perfect if it weren't for one of the peculiarities of the story mode (the game includes a two-player versus mode and a single-player story mode). The story mode contains one lead character: Heero Yuy. You can drive any mech you want, but the character inside must always be the miserable whinging punk from from Wing. Turning on the game, I was torn - I wanted to pilot the unspeakable glory of the MSN-04 Sazabi, but I didn't but I didn't want that miserable little thug sliming up the cockpit. Gameplay I picked the Sazabi anyway, of course. It's displayed in all it's Red Comet glory, while Heero is just a little protrait in the corner of the screen. That objection to the game's presentation aside, it's still alot of fun to play if you're a fan of Gundam - the realization of the mech designs is lovely, and there an plenty of impressive special attacks to pull off. You can fly around the screen with the R1+R2 thruster maneuver, thanks to the tall Versus-style arenas, avoid combinations with KOF-inspired sidestep moves, and ammunition limitations throw a bit of a kink into some of the weapon-based special attacks. The story mode features multiple mid-game and end bosses, some of which stretch two and three times taller than the standard Mobile Suits, forcing the camera to pull back as far as it can go through the entire battle. Altogether, Battle Assault plays like a slowed- down X-Men vs. Street Fighter (these are giant robots, after all), complete with insanely cheap final opponents. Who's worse: Magneto or the Hydra Gundam? The world may never know. Graphics Like I said, Battle Assault draws it's 2D mechs out of individual chunks, rather than one big sprite. The result is a game that doesn't move quite so smoothly as most 2D fighters (this technique wouldn't work for representing humans), but the sprites are much bigger and more detailed than they could have been. Taller mechs like the Sazabi and the The-O fill two-thirds of the screen, and the largest bosses are extremely impressive. Fans should certainly be pleased by the high quality of their replication in the game. Slowdown isn't much of a problem, either. Even when the background goes all starry and you bust loose with the Sazabi's Beam Shot Flush or the ZZ's Hyper Mega Particle Cannon (whee!), everything moves just fine. The overall pace of the game is quite slow, and beginners will definitly get a little mashy at times, but it's still prefectly playable. Sound For an anime-licensed game, Battle Assault is surprisingly light on spoken dialogue. It's missing some other typical trappings of the genre, like an animated intro, although perhaps I should be somewhat on that score, since I'm spared the potential horror of hearing Two-Mix deliver the opening theme. The soundtrack is blissfully free of such rot, although it's unfortunately devoid of anything really inspiring. The effects work well, though suitably conveying the impression of crashing MS metal. Comments This isn't a game for serious fighter fans, but it's definitely one for Gundam fans, Wing or otherwise. Indeed, it might reming the Toonami crowd that "Gundam" doesn't necessarily denote "angst-ridden prettyboy." The action is solid enough to let the license carry it a little further, which is a step up from the typical anime standard of "create excrable game, let license carry it to somewhere 'well below average.'" There's stuff to unlock in the one-player mode, and the bosses present an amusin challenge (they're unstoppable until you figure out key to their patterns, at which point they become pushovers) while it'd be a great two-player convention among fellow fanboys. Now I need someone else to play with, so I can get the proper fellow piloting my Sazabi. --David Smith Presentation: 7.0 Where's my intro movie? Go fig. Otherwise, the story mode cutscenes are fun, with their humourously ganked translation, and the manual doesn't dumb down the continuity. Graphics: 8.0 The graphical strategy works for representing giant robots. The highlights of the Gundam canon are all very nicely rendered over detailed backgrounds. Sound: 4.5 MERC Standard Issue, or a little below-average when you consider the standards for the genre. Gameplay: 7.0 Slow-paced, but it's got rhyme and reason once you get the hang of it. Lasting Appeal: 7.5 Fan appeal is the big factor here. If you like Gundam, there's plenty of Gundam to dig here, but otherwise it's just a middling 2D fighter. OVERALL SCORE (not an average): 7.4 ===================================Section 13=================================== Bass Guitar Tabs I bet you thought you'd never see anything like this in a video game FAQ....
