My Gamefaqs id is OracleElizabeth, please send all messages (my mistakes) pertaining to this guide to that id. 2. X-genes? What and How. X-genes act as your characters moves beyond your mutant power set. You can have a total of 3 x-genes equipped and 1 suit. There are a 3 types of X-genes in the game. Defensive, Offensive, and Utility. Equipping them is easy enough. Simply enter the start menu and select X-gene's & Suits. Then choose your Suit, Offensive X-Gene, Defensive X-Gene, and Utility X-Gene. You can also level up your skills. Select the skill you wish to level by hitting A. Then move the control stick to the next upgradable level and pay with the experience you have earned by killing enemies. 3. Who's genes can you get? Character List. Be aware that Emma Frost, Juggernaut, and Havok were obtained by pre-ordering the game. As it stands now both Emma Frost and Juggernaut are obtainable in-game. Havok; to the best of my knowledge and when this guide was made, is not obtainable unless you pre-ordered it. Complete List of Characters who have X-genes. Avalanche Colossus Cyclops Emma Frost Gambit Havok (Pre-order Perk) Iceman Juggernaut Magneto Northstar Psylocke Pyro Quicksilver Surge Toad Wolverine 4. Complete the set! People on the forums tell me that brotherhood genes seem to drop easier on brotherhood challenges. Particularly Toad's and Juggernauts challenge. The two hardest seem to be Magneto's Offensive and Gambit's Defensive. (which is pointless if you haven't gotten it early in the game.) It's not important that you get every X-gene, since they are random and can be gotten in different places or 'farmed' by playing challenges over and over but here's a list of the stand-alone ones situated throughout the game. If you are having problems with finding them turn off the music so as to better hear the X-genes 'chiming'. Be aware though, doing this will ruin 2 cutscenes as the noise for both of them plays as music. The scene where you first meet John Sublime and after you defeat the FINAL BOSS. So if you want to hear them, leave the music on. I recommend instead "farming' the gene's from challenges. Mission 1 1. After you reach the first breakable floor and fall through it, it is straight ahead. Mission 2 1. This gene is obtainable after knocking down the transmitter tower and following the cutscene. Exit the building and turn to the right. There should be a cage guarded by 4 purifiers. Kill them, free the mutants and the X-gene will appear in the cage. 2. After the cutscene where Magneto picks up the bridge, turn to the right without moving. You should see the X-gene in the corner. Mission 3 1. After fighting off the Externals for the first time you should still be in the Tram station lobby. Turn back to face the stairs that lead you down to the main area. Turn slightly right towards the Ticket booth. Head past the Ticket booth to the small enclosure near it. Go through the arch and the X-gene is in the right corner. 2. After the courier falls, move to the next checkpoint and past the gate into the area full of non-hostile Externals. Turn left and go down the alley. The X-gene is in the middle of the alley proper. 3. Before you enter 'The Rouge Hand', turn to the guard-house that was next to the bridge you entered the area on. Inside is the X-gene. 4. When you reach the warehouse that Gambit sends you to, climb. Climb all the way up the building. Fight some enemies on the roof here and more that are dropped off by a helicopter. Then turn right, jump up to the upper roof and then turn left instead of going straight. Follow the path and the up the ramp. You know you are on the right path when you come to another ramp with a Dossier next to the ramp. Go up the ramp and fight the two enemies here. Go up the next ramp and fight the one enemy here. At the top of the next ramp is the X-gene. 5.When you enter the warehouse and break through the floor, you should be given a small cutscene showing you the U-men crate. After killing the enemies, head towards the checkpoint. From the checkpoint next to the door; while facing the door, head to the right. Behind the large shipping crate you will find the X-gene. Mission 4 1. After you get the small cutscene relating to omelets. Walk straight ahead and turn sharp right when you can, next to the guard-house is the X-gene. 2. This X-gene is in the same hallway where you run into your first U-man, outside of the challenge arena. The X-gene is behind the large shipping container to the right. 3. After you defeat the Purifier Cleanser by yourself, the door will reopen. Go down the hall and into the next room where the Stalker mechs are hung from the ceiling. Turn right in the room go up the stairs and jump over the fence. 4. After you kill your first Stalker, it drops the X-gene. 5. After Surge, Quicksilver, and Colossus are trapped and you have to smash the controls to free them. Turn to look behind you, the X-gene should be there. Mission 5 1. When this mission starts, it is right in front of you. 2. After you break the ground and enter the tunnels the X-gene is around the corner of the second train. 3. Defeat more enemies than Wolverine. 4. After Wolverine leaves and you climb the ramp to fight the enemies you may see the X-gene across the way. You can not reach it yet. Instead keep following the checkpoints. After you shut off the electricity and climb back up, keep following the checkpoints. When you exit the hallway and are faced with a broken path that you need to use one of the climbing bars to get across. You can now reach it. Run along the climbing bar, kill the molotov throwing enemies and then look down. You should be able to see the X-gene. Jump down and get it. 5. After a cutscene where you are shown exactly how to navigate an entire jump bar puzzle. Then after you jump down and the robots activate themselves and start shooting at you. destroy the computer that will shut of the electricity and then after you climb back up the jump bars and start to run along the once active wires. When you reach the point that the view changes and you see robots firing at the bars look down. See the walkway below you? Drop down and walk along it. At the end is an X-gene. 6. After the fight with the stalker where you climb up the bars after shutting off the electricity. There is an X-gene at the top of the jump bars. After you jump up look behind you. Mission 6 1. After Nightcrawler leaves, head downstairs and kill all the guys near the mutant power dampener. Then turn around and look back at the stairs that led you here. The X-gene is next to them. 2. After you run into Caliban and then Northstar. The X-gene is next to a shipping container near the fence to the next area on the right. 3. After running into Wolverine. When his health bar appears look behind him to the left. There is the X-gene. 4. After dealing with Wolverine, climb the scaffolding to the building, then use the jump bars to climb to the next building. In the right corner after jumping up is the X-gene. Mission 7 1. After you choose who you side with, the X-gene will be in the archway that the checkpoint is in. 2. In the area with your second mind controlled teammate. Either Pyro or Northstar, the X-gene is in the back behind the fence. 3. The next X-gene is behind the trucks that Gambit and his externals are standing in front of before the cutscene where you chose your last mutant power. 4. After talking to Forge follow his Stalker through the hole and then turn right into the tiny barbed wire area. The little area is located between where Forge sits with his challenge and the actual hole his Stalker made. 5. Right next to the Checkpoint after Forge. The X-gene is in the guard-house. 6. This is the last X-gene. After you reach the satellite tower and before you climb it. Walk up the staircase that surrounds it and the X-gene will be behind the tower. 7. Achievements that relate to X-genes and suits. None of which are hard to do and barely even worth mentioning. Also, not really an achievement but I didn't know where else to say this. Try throwing, shoving, or knocking an enemy off a high place. The sound effect they use for the scream is the Wilhelm Scream. Just thought that was cute. At Least It's Aerodynamic - Equip your first suit. Splicer - Equip your first X-Gene. Four of a Kind - Equip a complete X-Gene set and suit. How Strong Could It Be? - Trigger X-Mode. 8. ValentineSCUM for giving me the idea to do this. Revan67xbl for telling me he kept getting shot down on his faq and why.
